Song for a Fifth Child

Mother, O' Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth.
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due,
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek - peekaboo.

The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew,
And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo.
But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow,
But children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

This is Benny.
He is a star player on his football team
(and, even more importantly,
a star player in his family.)

Kaishon is doing something pretty exciting today.
I can't wait to tell you all about it.
Here is a clue: NYC!

No Parking.

I told you that I lost my job last Summer, right?
Our program shut down.
It really knocked me for a loop.
We had the best team ever.
My co workers were more than co workers.
And suddenly, they were gone.
I got a new job doing the same exact thing.
With significantly less money.
I wasn't too stressed about it because money has never mattered that much to me.
Gary was very stressed.

The new team at the new job is great.
Really nice people.
But, it just isn't the same.
So, here I am, 14 months later, still missing the old.
And the reason I am telling you all of this today...
the new job has TERRIBLE parking.
I mean ridiculous.
This morning I got to work 40 minutes before 9.
That is early, right?
And guess what?
All the parking spaces are gone.
And by all, I mean 8.
They have 8 parking spaces.
So, I parked on a corner where it says NO PARKING.
I am probably going to get a ticket.
This is what I felt compelled to tell you this morning.
You are welcome.
Now, let's get back to our regularly scheduled show:

Life is still beautiful.
Even when all the parking spots are gone.

Here’s to the kids who are different,
The kids who don’t always get A’s.
The kids who have ears twice the size of their peers,
And noses that go on for days.

Here’s to the kids who are different,
The kids they call crazy and dumb.
The kids who aren’t cute and don’t give a hoot,
Who dance to a different drum.

Here’s to the kids who are different,
The kids with the mischievous streak.
For when they have grown,
As history’s shown,
It’s their difference that makes them unique.

Don't the weekends fly?
We had a pretty great one, as far as weekends go.
There was napping, and football watching, and book clubbing involved.
Also a little Photographing, working and reading.

I can hardly believe it is over.

I have so many pictures to share,
I don't know where to start.
This happens to me every time I come to blog lately.
I just feel overwhelmed with photo choices.

Here is a little Fall poem.
It is only 5 days away, can you believe it?

Autumn Fires
by Robert Louis Stevenson

In the other gardens
And all up the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
See the smoke trail!

Pleasant summer over
And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
The grey smoke towers.

Sing a song of seasons!
Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
Fires in the fall!

September Photo Challenge :: I Heart Faces :: Win an ipad :: Shadows

 photo 8M8A1419_zpse17bc276.jpg

My friend Julie and I were talking today
(or I guess, if you want to get technical, we were 'typing' today)
about how we always have these grand dreams of unique I heart faces entries.
We think of fantastic shots
and then we scheme and plan and try to get something out of this world,
but we still end up using our regular pictures.

Regular but real.
Naji and one of his favorite dogs.

Our summer was out of this world.
I am pretending it isn't over yet.

Pretend with me.

You can win an ipad over at I heart faces this week just for linking up a shadow picture.

Have a great week weather life throws you shadows or sunshine.

My heart belongs to you.

My friend Sarah asked for song suggestions tonight for her daughter's walk down the aisle.
I fell in love with this song.
Have a fun weekend with the ones you love best.

short and sweet

photo 871c8e00-6dbe-4757-b2f8-fe4821f4ea17_zps3f68fab8.jpgSome moms love back to school time.
I am not one of them.

I don't like the thought of childhood ending.
Kaish has been in the 8th grade since Monday, August 26.
So far, so good.
I will share his first day of school pictures
next Tuesday when we have our Creativity Project circle.
This is my favorite time of year on facebook.
I absolutely, positively love seeing everyone's children and their back to school pictures.

Did you do a back to school post?
Will you share your pictures with me?
