The Paradox of our Age by Dr. Bob Moorehead

 photo 8M8A0177_zpsc34e86d6.jpg
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.

 photo 8M8A0850_zpsde038144.jpg
We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy less.

 photo 8M8A0856_zpsbced8d26.jpg
We have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, but less time.

 photo 8M8A0846_zpsa9434e26.jpg
We have more degrees but less sense; more knowledge, but less judgment; more experts, yet more problems; more medicine, but less wellness.

 photo 8M8A0218_zps5386a405.jpg
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

 photo 8M8A0798_zpscfec7b2e.jpg
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.

 photo 8M8A0612_zpsdb71cd37.jpg
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

 photo 8M8A0302_zpsf73ebca0.jpg
We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life.

photo 8M8A0473_zps83145432.jpgWe’ve added years to life not life to years.

 photo 8M8A0664_zpsfba0ec02.jpg

We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.

 photo 8M8A0399_zps25d1ca11.jpg
We conquered outer space but not inner space.

 photo 8M8A0641_zps8604881b.jpg
We’ve done larger things, but not better things.

 photo 8M8A0655_zps23b6bf38.jpg
We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.

 photo 8M8A0634_zpsb5f437cb.jpg
We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.

 photo 8M8A0574_zpsa13b8ef0.jpg
We write more, but learn less.

 photo 8M8A0417_zps8417d4d2.jpg
We plan more, but accomplish less.

 photo 8M8A0712_zps48e529ac.jpg
We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait.

 photo 8M8A0636_zpsfd687cf0.jpg
We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

 photo 8M8A0515_zps9a0bf9bc.jpg
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion; big men and small character; steep profits and shallow relationships.

 photo 8M8A0486_zps40ad074b.jpg
These are the days of two incomes but more divorce; fancier houses but broken homes.

 photo 8M8A0591_zpsa2238b05.jpg
These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

 photo 8M8A0577_zps209bc5e5.jpg
It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom.

These images are beautiful and so full of joy and childhood passion. I have to say I disagree with some of the text though, it is a superficial view of our world that the media likes to foster but I find that actually the world is a fascinating place with so much diversity and opportunity and that the view that 'the world used to be better in the old days' is hugely warped.

Acceptance of others in the past was very rare, health care and medicine was something that didn't exist, over crowding in homes, lack of education and understanding of how we function as humans was far less. I am not convinced the world was a better place in the past or that it is somehow evil now because of all these changes
