Oh my word. I hope he is heeling fine and will come home soon!! Does he work at the zoo? And really, not everyone can say that they got bit by a monkey!

Sue said...

Hospitals are never fun, and I'll bet he didn't like being there one bit. He looks like the kind of guy who doesn't like to be coddled.

What a cute dad!

=)

Dad and Mom don't like making a big deal out of things, huh?

How did he feel when you came in with your camera? Does he know that he is the star of your latest post? :)

I'm glad he went and got checked out, and especially, that he's fine.

A monkey bite?!?

Busy Bee Suz said...

A monkey???? What???? I thought they lived on a farm...not a zoo.
I am so glad that he is fine. I am so sorry you had to get worried and stressed.

What an experience! So relieved he's recovering just fine. And maybe your nerves will recover soon too (I know I'd be rattled for a while!)

it really isnt every day that you can say you got bit by a monkey, let alone that you even know someone who got bit by one. in any event...glad he's home and doing better!

CJ said...

Oh no! I hope he gets better soon. And "not a big deal" to get bit by a monkey, Id say! I guess he might be the type that doesnt like to the same thing as everyone. Either way, hope he can stay away from monkeys and hospitals!!!

Gigi said...

So glad he's doing better! But really? A monkey bite? You have to admit, that is a conversation-starter.

Christina (fivewalkers) said...

That is scary, and no, hospitals are not fun, but thank goodness he was able to get to one and be okay!! I have to tell you I love your description of the scene, the call with your mom, you being obedient and hopping right in the car! Oh my! A couple of years ago my mom called and said similar words,"I don't want you to be upset..." I knew right away that I very well should be upset! They had been in a car wreck, and were fine in the end, but it had been a bad one and could have been much worse. Anyway, so glad that he's getting better and, yes, I hope he doesn't ever have to go back!
What does he do that he got bit by a monkey?!

Jenny @ flutterbyechronicles said...

Glad he is out and doing better. Don't you love it when your parents start a conversation with "Don't be upset" or "You might want to sit down, but really it's nothing".

Becky, you have to fill us in, how did your dad get bit by a monkey? Glad he is ok! Hospitals are indeed scary!

OH man! Bit by a monkey?! Glad he is okay, but at least he has a great story to tell. :)

Wow! Sorry to hear about your dad! He has an interesting job though! Has Kaish been around the monkeys too? I think that would be fascinating! Hope he gets better soon!

Those parents don't like any fusses to be made, do they? So happy to hear he's home {now maybe he can watch tv! Can't imagine being in the hospital without a tv!}

the Lola Letters said...

Oh I loved this post. A father couldn't ask for a better daughter than you.

{My Mom said,
"Don't go to the hospital.
Daddy doesn't want a fuss."
And since I am very obedient,
I was getting in the car
and heading to the hospital
while I was saying goodbye to her.}

Bah ha ha ha!! I literally laughed out loud and had to read this to the hubs. You are my favorite.

Most importantly, I am so glad that your dad is going to be okay. Sorry you had to go through a scare like that! No bueno. :(

So glad he is ok.. and being able to say "my dad got bit by a monkey" is kinda random conversation.. Im kinda fond of random conversation.

This year I spent 8 days in one hospital 3 hours from home with no visitors and no tv or anything, I had neuro surgery so couldnt stand to read or anything.. It was the PITS.. never been so happy to get home as I was after that week.

If he had to get hurt, at least he has an awesome story to tell! Glad he's doing better and is out of the hospital.

At least your mom told you! When my mom was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, she didn't tell me until after she had surgery to have a cancerous mole removed. Thankfully, she is fine now.

my gosh! i can't imagine how scared you were!! i hope and pray for quick recovery!!
i used to be a social worker in a hospital and held it together in some tuff situations...but the second my papa was in there, i couldn't stop myself from crying. i'm a baby.

Oh my goodness!! Well, I'm glad that bite turned out to be okay - other than being a bite and all. I love how you're such an obedient daughter. Actually, pretty much I just love your family in general! Hope that bite heals up right quick.

I am so glad that he is on the mend! I am also glad that I am in such great company - I was bit by a monkey in Mexico when I was a teen:)

It seems like his experience turned out 'ok'. Hope all is relatively well. Thanks for your photos - I always enjoy popping into your blog.

oh goodnight...daddy got bit by a monkey;) you are right you can't say that everyday. so glad he's okay. i even felt my pulse race a bit when your mom said your dad's in the hospital. ugh...words you don't want to ever hear.

Bevy said...

Oh my!! Glad to hear that things are "getting better" for your dad.

I love reading your posts about you and your family (just cuz I know you...). It's like I can hear your mom saying all of that. Or just how your dad would act about it... and you!?! Yeah...you're the calmest soul I know. Why?!?! Why would you burst into tears? :) Love ya, Bek.

I think what's even worse than the monkey bite itself is that he had to be in the hospital. So glad that he is okay now, B, and that he is out of the hospital.

Becky, am so glad that your dad is okay and it didn't turn out to be anything worse. And yes, hospitals are the worst place to be!! any time!!

Oh my gosh! What a story & conversation starter! Glad your dad is ok. My parents do the same thing..."we don't want to worry you" but don't they know not knowing is worse?

What a sweet post. I love how you adore your dad. Seriously, hospitalized with a monkey bite! Hope he's all better soon!

Oh I'm so blessed your dad was alright.

You got me real nervous at first!

What an incredible story with awesome shots of your dad and his brief stay.

Yes, Lord, I pray he never ever has to go back again!

I would of reacted the same exact way!

Enjoy him Becky♥

I love you, Becky, because you cry like me-lol! Glad your daddy is home and healing. My own daddy went home to Jesus 10 years ago next month and I miss him so much. He would have laughed at your story, too :)

Gail said...

Hospitals are SO not fun, and as someone who worked in them for many years...the experience can be bad or sort of okay. It's never great.

Hoping he's on the mend and healing fast!! You're a wonderful daughter, I would have reacted the same way!

Maddy said...

Who knew that monkey bits could be so serious?! I guess you just never know with those things. Glad it wasn't anything major! Your dad looks like a trooper in these photos. And I know he's grateful to have a daughter who loves him so much :)

I'm happy your dad is okay....you are too funny and a good daughter! Not everyone can say their dad was bit by a monkey! Happy Tuesday!

Anita Johnson said...

Oh, I'm so sorry. I hope he heals quickly. My one tooth dog bite (from grabbing a rubber hamburger at the same time my dog did) is now up to $4,000 and still isn't healed. A monkey bite makes a much more dramatic story. I just wish it wasn't his. Adding your dad to my prayers.

Well- there's something your don't hear everyday. WOW! What a story- I am so glad that he's doing okay- I was bracing myself for some tears as I started reading the beginning.

Lisa said...

You are such a good daughter listening to your mom like that. :)

I hated it when my daddy was in the hospital So ~ hard! I completely understand...

So this summer...my husband finally went to the dr. because we thought he was having asthma issues that turned out NOT to be asthma issues at all ~ It was heart failure...HEART FAILURE!!!! can you believe that??? He is way to young for heart failure and he's thin.

Then my mother was sick and called me early one morning because she needed help she needed to go to the dr. because of her stomach. The dr. walked in and said You need to be in the hospital now. I took her to the hospital and then the very next night...my brother calls at 5 a.m. and asks for help he had fallen in his house and broke his knees. In the middle of the night...at home...

I think saying you got bit by a monkey is way cooler then anything I have. Way cooler! Tell your dad NO MORE Hospital visits unless someone is having a baby ~ Which my niece did so we got to go see the baby...and he's a cutie...I hope your daddy is feeling better.

THE END! :)

I'm sorry. I didn't MEAN to laugh. In fact, I didn't start OUT laughing at all. But then I got to this part:

"I told Kaish and Gary that night at supper.
I mean, honestly, you can't say your Dad got bit by a monkey that often.
Kaish couldn't wait to tell his friends.
Gary said he didn't know anyone that had ever been bitten by a monkey before.
I assured him it was not a common plight."

And I confess, I laughed. Out loud. Really. I did NOT, however, roll on the floor laughing. Nor did I laugh my butt off (although I wish I had, and if I had, I might even have sent that monkey a treat). And seeing your daddy in the hospital bed with the lovely gown (if he wasn't grumpy before they made him put that thing on, he surely HAD to be afterwards). And I'm very happy that he is home and I'm praying for his monkey bite to heal completely. But I just might have slipped a little request in there for a good enough scar to remain that your dad can always show off his monkey bite. Because truly... it ISN'T a common plight! xoxox...

lifebythecreek said...

AND.. if I would just proofread BEFORE I hit enter, I would catch stupid mistakes like not finishing my sentences. What I MEANT to say was "And seeing your daddy in the hospital bed with the lovely gown made my heart hurt for both him and you."

Jennifer @ Studio JRU said...

Oh my goodness Becky... I am so glad he is ok! That is just crazy. I would totally be just like you... crying like a maniac from the get go. Too much bad news on the phone... I cry instantly when someone says... 'it's ok, but...' So happy he is home now. And those darn monkeys better start behaving!

I'm so glad to 'see' that things are okay...things can get sticky for a while and give us that jolt we sometimes need to remind us that life is fragile.
