Here's to the Kids Who are Different by Digby Wolf

6th grade...
Are you ready?
Middle school-
here we come!

Here's to the kids who are different,

The kids who don't always get A's,

The kids who have ears twice the size of their peers,

And noses that go on for days...

Here's to the kids who are different,

The kids they call crazy or dumb,

The kids who don't fit, with the guts and the grit,

Who dance to a different drum...

Here's to the kids who are different,

The kids with the mischievous streak,

For when they have grown,
as history's shown,

It's their difference that makes them unique!

Hear hear! Thank God for different drums and the kids who can hear them... they truly ARE the ones who end up making a difference in this world. I have NO doubt but that God's plans for Kaish are as big and wide as your love for him...

Wonderful poem, great photos. I love that you have kept track of the first day for the past 5 years - what a treasure! Happy SITS Day!

I love this poem! Every middle school teacher should read this to his/her students on the first day of school. And it should be hung in the classroom in plain view for the entire year- as a reminder that each one of us is in some way represented in the words. Middle school is tough. We have found with increasingly rigorous academic programs and time constraints for social enrichment- the subtle forms of bullying and ostracizing of classmates who don't fit into a certain mold go unnoticed or brushed under the rug. If we do not keep encouraging our children to celebrate, accept, embrace each other's uniqueness- we risk bringing up a generation who loses compassion and empathy. Thank you for sharing this. I wish Kaishon a wonderful year in sixth grade!

Growing into his own! Are you proud or what! I feel it all the way here.

Was going to ask your opinion on using Raw format when shooting....do you use it and what you think the benefits may be. I am 'playing' with it now.....still learning.
Thanks
