This Summer has been fun for the kids.
We have the best neighborhood.
Tons of friends just a knock away!
2 weeks ago, the kids were getting tired of spending time with each other.
They basically spend every minute they are awake with our very awesome neighbors:
Casey and Riley.
Whenever we try to keep them apart,
they beg and plead to keep spending time together.
they beg and plead to keep spending time together.
It is hilarious.
They want sleepovers every night.
They want to go to every soccer game.
Every pool trip.
Every where.
They absolutely hate being separated.
I realized they were going to go crazy
if we didn't separate for one night
if we didn't separate for one night
so we kidnapped,
or Grammy-napped my Mom
and whisked her off to an exotic shopping destination:
the big K.
Kaishon had never been in a K Mart before.
He and Sabriah thought it was so much fun.
My Mom and I were cracking up at their entertainment choices.
My favorite thing of the night was not the dinner at Perkins that reminded me of my Grandma.
It was this poster of a little boy with hair like Kaishon's!
Do you see it?
I had to take a picture for my Dad,
my best friend Jen,
and every other person who constantly tells me
that Kaishon needs a hair cut.
that Kaishon needs a hair cut.
He can have whatever kind of hair he wants : )
I don't care if it is cool.
Or if it fits in with what all the african american kids
in the city have.
in the city have.
I think he is cool with lots of hair
or with no hair.
Red hair or blue hair.
It's hair for goodness sakes.
Life is way too short to worry about perfect hair.
He likes it.
That is all that matters to me.
Red hair or blue hair.
It's hair for goodness sakes.
Life is way too short to worry about perfect hair.
He likes it.
That is all that matters to me.
Kaishon is cool because of his heart not his hair.
Clearly the marketing directors at K Mart
think that kind of hair is cool too.
think that kind of hair is cool too.

Your blog looks great! Haven't been here for awhile .Sorry!! I love K Mart and Kaison's hair!
If I could do that with my hair, I probably would...
I think it's cool.
What a happy find! You summed up my recent thoughts perfectly. If my boys are happy, we are happy, we're trying to make God happy, then I shouldn't be paranoid about every picture I post with less than A+ hair but just enjoy the busy blessings God has given us. Glad you are doing so! :)
smiles. i think he has cool hair...and a heart to match is not a bad thing at all...smiles.
I LOVE his hair! Looks like a fun break.
I seriously love his hair - and all of your great pics! :-)
So tell me how you really feel. ha!
John is wanting to grow dreadlocks and I'm freaking out about it. You do know my issues with order, right? Yeah, so I'm uptight. What of it!
Anyway, I'm trying to learn to be okay with it but he doesn't maintain it and it's driving me nuts. I think I need a hair-intervention.
m.
I agree with you 100% about it just being hair. And his hairstyle will change a dozen times before he graduates. As long as he's happy.
commented on the wrong post! ~ but hey, as least you know I'm reading you!! ;-)
Kaishon's hair always makes me smile. I think it makes me smile because it looks real. Every time I look at pictures of that kid I see love. Love, joy, happiness and LOTS of hair. :) and it just makes me smile. It's his trade mark... I say, If he takes care of it by himself ~ keeps it clean and all that stuff...and I'm sure he does... let it be. It's hair...just hair.
xoxo
I love Kaishon's hair! Very fun post, Becky! I actually thought the ad in Kmart was Kaishon at first!
His hair certainly is cool...and so are you, Mom! LOVE that you took pics of the kids in K Mart. We don't have them around here anymore. :(
You don't mess with happy end of story! Love the pictures they are nuts! Have a wonderful Tuesday!
I think K's hair is awesome! if he doesnt want it cut, then who cares?! have a great week, becky!
Love that poster and his hair. I would not cut it. :) Love the rubber duckies.
so sweet. x hivenn
I LOVE Kaishon's hair, and I love this post! So much! I don't know how you manage to make a trip to Kmart look so fun and beautiful, but you captured moments that did just that. You are an amazing phoBLOGrapher! Seriously, one of my favorite posts ever!
Lol!! Kaish's hair become his signature look! I think if he decided to cut his hair, it wouldn't look like himself any longer and we wouldn't want that! :)
Love the shots Becky. I am so sad that summer is almost over.
KMART? Wow, haven't stepped inside one since (don't remember). Cool!
I thought the poster WAS K at first glance! His hair is cool.
I love Kaishons hair as well AND I love that you let him be an individual giving him the ability to express his heart. That's awesome to me!
That Kaish! Out there on the cutting edge, setting fashion trends!! ;-)
Hope you guys had a great, quiet night out at the 'K.
You are SO right... Kaishon is cool because of his heart not his hair. Love that Becky! And it looks like you all had so much fun in K Mart! :)
Your child has never been to Kmart? I should call someone...that is child abuse. :)
I love his hair. I think that he is such a cool kid on the inside and having ALL that hair, well it lets everyone know how cool he is before they even KNOW him.
Right? He should be modeling.
Perkins? YUMMMO.
So I'm (very obviously) not a regular blogger, and I just now saw your comments to my most recent post. Such a small world! I also grew up in Perkasie (on 5th street, right across from Menlo park/pool). We're in Quakertown now, just off of 313! We should try to meet up! Anyone who appreciates Kelle's blog has to have a good soul! :)

You are an awesome momma! I think kids can do whatever they want with their hair too - it's one thing that is always fixable that they can use/change to express themselves!!
Love that hair! Hope Kashions new school term is as exciting for him as it has been for my younger son.
You are a cool mom.
=)
Ok, when I saw that picture as a thumbnail, I totally thought that you did a crazy cool first day of school picture. The hair does look like Kaishon’s! Too cool!
Ks hair is full of life and personality! I think it's rocking!!
I love that Kaishon is his own person.
Hair grows and changes. You are wise to pick your battles and besides who's child is he anyway? He's yours and you do what's right for him and your own family.
Adorable photos of the adventure of the day.
Sweetest friend, I love this. I love you and how you love your boy for who he is. And I will tell you a story. Because these are YOUR comments, I will make it as short as I can. VERY short. My brother is 4 years older than me and was a teen in the 70's. When long hair was cool (and when "long hair" meant anything past your ears, pretty much). My dad was a "Greatest Generation" man and thought that my brother should have a flattop haircut. Even when he was 16 and all the other boys had long hair. It was never worth the hurt and anger.. never. And it made a chasm between them that they never could bridge. When my dad was hit by a car and died, my brother wept because he didn't know if Dad knew that he loved him. And a lot of that grief was caused by hair. NEVER EVER EVER FIGHT OVER HAIR. It grows back. It changes color. It disappears (my brother is now bald, just like my dad). NEVER let hair get in the way of love...
I absolutely love Kaishon's hair, and love that you let him do with it as he pleases.
I have an 11 yo who is also refusing to cut his hair. When it got past his chin, he allowed a trim.
But I'm with you - it's just hair. If it makes him happy, so be it. *shrug*
Shopping is so much fun. My daughter loves it too. She also has crazy hair. I try to tame it a bit, but she usually runs from me when I try to comb it. So sometimes I don't even bother, but then it gets so tangled.
haha I love these pix, and I do love crazy hair:) My toddler has a wild little 'doo going these days and it's precious!
I think Kaishon's hair is awesome! So I looked around at Communal Global and it's such a fabulous idea! Don't know why I didn't really join in before. But I'm joining in now! Do let me know if I need to do anything differently to participate. Cheers! - J
I've said this before and I will say it however many times you'll want to hear me say it: I love Kaish's hair.
Wow...he does look like the guy in the poster. Only cuter!
Yep, hair is only hair and your boy sure has a big heart.
Like mom...
I think Kaishon has cool hair too.
Now I've always thought his hair was awesome! My brother Jim had hair a lot like that when he was a kid... and he's bald now. Well, he has a few gray hairs. And I LOVE that you say, "It's his hair"
As if that settles it.
Which it DOES.
Your post totally reminds me of the Erika Bahdu song, I am Not My Hair. I love his hair because he loves his hair. That is all that matters. :) You are a great mom!!
