good mamas and abundant love {neigh, neigh}

A good Mama would check the weather
and figure out which day of the week
would be the coolest.

A good Mama would take the kids
first thing in the morning
before the sun got too hot
on the coolest day of the week.

A good Mama would bring water bottles
 in a cooler
 to give the kids
first thing in the morning
before the sun got hot
on the coolest day of the week.

I am NOT a good Mama.

We went on the hottest day of the week.
I believe it was 101 degrees.
Since I am an exaggerator though,
let's just say it was 121 degrees : ).
I didn't remember water bottles.
And we went at 1:00 PM.
It could not have been hotter.

Thank goodness the kids had fun and love me any way.
{Despite my Good Mama failings!}

This horse is half horse/ half zebra.

We love Haycock Stables.
If you live near us,
go right away.
Joanne and Abe are the nicest people.
They have been married for 50 years.
Farmers don't have easy lives.
I love their smiles.
I love their horses.
I love their love that has endured.

I adore that last photo with every cell in my body. And a zebra/horse...wow! I have seen zebra donkeys (zedonks). But what do you call a zebra horse? A zorse? A hebra? Whatever you call it, it's cool! And if you judge being a good mama by how early you get your kiddos up and going for an outdoor activity, then I am a total fail. I think YOU rock!

Great pictures, but that last one is priceless.

Whoa! That horse is the coolest thing ever!

Being prepared? It's a little overrated.

Good Mamas take kids to see horses.

:)

Or Zorses.

Or Hebras.

I agree with the comment above....good Mama's take their children to see horses! They won't remember the lack of water or that it was the hottest day....And thanks for the photos of the zebra-horse!!!! I've never seen anything like it! Must remember to show the kids in the morning!

A zorse is a zorse, of course, of course...

Of course you are a cool mom - even if the kids are a little warm...

Good moms are one in a million and you're right there with the select few! Sounds like an amazing day! I want to spend my summers with you too :)

Agreed with above posts! Good momma's take their kids to see horses! And kids don't notice extreme temps anyway! That's why they can play in the snow in shorts and rain boots or play bball on a black top all summer! The horse pics are beautiful!

A friend of mine has a brown zebra. I'll have to ask her if she can make a half horse and half zebra. She does things like that. I won't get into how, hah.
Great pictures.
No heat strokes, so you did well. Too hot everywhere.

Love that zebra horse! And I can sympathize on the good mama note...all to well. HA. Love the last shot of your boy.

arent horse whiskers the best? My friend has a horse and we took the girls a few months ago to ride him and learn how to care for him. a few good hours at the barn with those beautiful animals is good for the soul. my 8 year old who wants lessons is not so good for my wallet.

Oh! I love that you took the kids riding. You are a good mama!

ha. That is SO me. Not good at remembering lunches, water bottles, dressing for the weather. We've been wanting to go horseback riding...how FUN! :) Looks like all that heat 'n stuff didn't bother anyone at all!! :)

That zebra/horse is beautiful! I actually had to look it up of Wikipedia because I was curious. Apparently it is called a zebroid, amongst other names.

Whatever you call it, I think it is lovely!

What a great post - a timely reminder to all mothers, that there is no such thing as a perfect one! As long as we can be 'good enough' mothers, our children will love us and will survive and grow strong. In fact, if we could be perfect, they would meet no challenges growing up and would not mature properly. Something to remember.

Love the Zeborse .. uh ... Horbra .. uh .. horsey-zebra-ey animal. LOL!

That horse/zebra/horsbra(?) is so cool! Hope they had a blast despite the heat!

That first shot of the horse is amazing...

I'm not a horse person, but the zebra/horse makes me want to give it hugs and kisses. How was its demeanor?

Love that shot of the couple, too. They just ooze with good times and love for living things.

This is MY first time visiting YOUR blog :) Thank you for your very sweet comment about my grandpa. I think what made the whole situation harder was when I took my daughter up to say good bye to my grandpa one last time in his casket. She blew him a kiss (as she normally would) and waved good-bye. It was a bitter sweet moment. I know that she has no comprehension of what is going on, but after that shared moment with her, I realize now more than ever how precious life is and how much harder it is to deal with the death of a loved one. Your photos are beyond amazing!!!! I wish you were in the IL area!! Just curious how you found me. Blessings to you!

Ahhh I'm not a good mamma either...I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten the diaper bag and seriously regretted it. Good mamma's actually take their kids to the stable as opposed to turning on the TV so plus ten points there!

Absolutely wonderful character lines on that woman's face. Beautiful capture.
Half horse and half zebra is a new one on me. Great shots and I love how the whiskers show up on the full front photo.
Good Mama...definitely!!!
You are building such great memories for Kaishon and all the neighborhood friends. They will never be forgotten.
