We are living in a world today where lemonade is made from artificial flavors and furniture polish is made from real lemons. ~Alfred E. Newman

The Smile Makers
by Shel Silverstein

The grungy, grumpy, grouchy Giant
Grew tired of his frowny pout
And hired me and Lee to lift
The corners of his crumblin’ mouth
That was last year—and we’ve been here
Sweatin’, strainin’, all the while.
Sometimes it sure can be hard work
To make somebody smile.

I agree, love the glass bottles! Best kind of soda... or lemonade. :) We needed some of that today, it finally warmed up here, and then today it was so hot!! Haha.

Thanks for linking up with Sunday Citar at Fresh Mommy Blog

We sure live in an upside-down world, don't we?

I told the kids to try talking with a huge grin on their face, because no matter how cranky or upset you feel, talking that way is bound to make you smile somehow and feel a little bit better (and silly)! Try it! :)

I LOVE Shel Silverstein! The shot of bottle and straws is wonderful! It looks like they are deep in conversation.

Great Quote. We have that lemonade here. We usually receive things that don't sell quickly in the States. Beautiful bottles. I have a few myself.

Any post that starts with a quote from Alfred E. Newman has got to be good. :)

LOVE the quote and the picture my friend! :-)

The irony is that the harder one tries to make another smile, the less effective they are. It's like golf, actually. The harder I try to swing, the shorter my drive.

The easiest way to make a smile is quite simply to smile.

Great photograph.

It's a scary world when drinking furniture polish might be safer than drinking the soda with the artificial lemon!
