'Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.' ~Anthony J. D'Angelo

May is a month of highs and lows for us.
Kaishon's low this month would definitely be the fact that school is still in session!
He is ready to roll out of 5th grade.
And his high?
The nights that stay bright and filled with light until way past bedtime.
The kids are having so much fun playing after school every day.
I just love that.
Even though I did NOT love getting a letter from our home owners association informing us that
'children were not to be playing barefoot.'
Are they serious?
Who the heck cares if children are barefoot?
I am letting Kaish play barefoot if he wants to.
What can I say, I am a rule breaker.
Gary's low?
I can't think of just one low for Gary.
He has a lot of lows : )
I would ask him but you know where he is, right?
Work-a-roni.
He reminds me of the Donkey on Winnie the Pooh.
Sort of gloomy.
{I love my gloomy donkey though.}
I was going to say his Birthday this month would be a high.
He might consider that a low though.
Who knows?
My low is the fact that so many of the kids I work with are missing more school than ever this month...
I try to think of brilliant things to say to help them go to school-
it rarely works. Darn it.
And my high?
It is a month of possibilities.
Graduations.
Birthdays.
Love.
It always comes down to love.
I am so glad that we can find that in every month!
May is a wonderful month for certain.
Make sure to make your days count.
Love, Becky

The pictures interspersed throughout today are of the lovely Gina who will be getting married later this month. It was wonderful to meet her family! Very sweet. Aren't they crazy photogenic?

I think my kids would disown me if I didn't let them go barefoot! Heck! 99.9% of the time I'm barefoot myself! Good for you being a rule breaker! ;) We have lots of high's this month too...one special one is our senior is graduating from high school. ::sigh:: Oh, time...where does it go?? Great pictures! (as always!)

Such great advice to take the sunshine WITH us wherever we may go - - - we NEED that advice up here on the Frozen Tundra where the sun, so far this s _ _ _ _ _ , has been VERY stingy with its shining.

Love your style.

Not go barefoot?? Who ever heard of such a thing?
I do hope your highs will soon outweigh your lows.
I also love Eyeore. Oh Bother....
Beautiful photos!

That is craziness thinking they can dictate if you go barefoot or not.

Beautiful pictures!

I love, love, love that session! How beautiful... and SO much love overflowing in it. Beautiful work, Becktastic! And seriously, they can dictate no barefootedness? I guess they're just trying to cover themselves in case somebody steps on a rusty nail. Such a crazy world we live in nowadays. As for your gloomy Eyeore, how in the world can ANYBODY be gloomy around you? wow. Have you perfected your recipe for thistle casserole yet? and finally... MY 5th grader is counting down days, while I am trying to hang on to every one of them. Middle school. aaack.
xoxoxox....

The neighborhood association is telling you your kids can't go barefoot outdoors in the summertime AT HOME? That is beyond ridiculous.

I don't understand about the barefoot thing. Outside? Inside? I don't get it.

Seriously! Being barefoot is totally an individual right, are they afraid of a lawsuit? Oy! I have shoes and love going barefoot all summer long! Way to rebel (:

Take them to task, Rebeckah! I hate shoes and go barefoot all the time unless I have to go somewhere. I'd love to see them make an issue of it.

while i love the perks of an HOA, i swear sometimes they just want to be a PITA (pain in the a). is this at a community play ground or something? surely they don't mean to tell you how your kid can play in your yard.

Kids aren't allowed to play BAREFOOT? Um...isn't that part of being a kid? You go right ahead, Becky...be the rule breaker that you are and hold your head up HIGH! Sure hope that Kaishon and Gary's lows turn around. Keep the faith!

we share our highs and lows each day at bedtime ... I love to hear from the kids what their perspectives of good and bad are ... always different than mine!

Well isn't that life? A series of high and lows? Well... at least there's a lesson in every one :) My May is shaping up to be too busy to categorize as high or low. I just hope I can do everything I want to accomplish!

Thank you for reminding me to look for the highs - and to quit focusing so much on the lows!

To Gina, Your beautiful!!! and that little boy is sooo cute!! Happy Married Life!!!!

To Becky's hubby, My father would always say, "having another birthday is much better then the alternative." and now that he is with our Lord I wonder if he still feels the same way. :)

To Kaishon, be happy you are not home schooled. We have to work this summer!

To Becky's home owners association, WHAT???? No playing outside without shoes on? Were any of you ever children???? EVER??? Okay, were any of you ever children in the SUMMER TIME????

To Becky, It is a community rule...our kids play outside without shoes on in the spring/summer time or early fall... We have lots for sale! I will save you one.

I love this post! Have a great week.

No bare feet??? Seriously, that ranks right up there with my HOA rule that says no bicycles, skateboards, scooters, etc. ARGH!!! Puh-lease!

And, I agree with Kaishon...so ready for school to be over (and I'm a teacher...shhhhhh, don't tell!).

Christina said...

That is crazy about the bare feet. I am not a barefoot outside kind of person, but it seems nuts that they would send out that memo or note or whatever!
Lovely pictures, the little boy has a very contagious smile! Well, all of them do, really!

WHAT?! They dictate whether you can wear SHOES or not?!? Ridiculous!!! Buck that rule baby!!

Not going barefoot is absolutely against the rules! Kids are meant to be barefoot!!

So sorry it's been a low month... here's hoping spring brings lots of sunshine, in more ways than one! :)

My birthday is this month too.

Barefoot rule breakers!

Love the quote! And sometimes it's really appropriate for how to bring sunshine to the Pacific Northwest! :)

My birthday is this month too! And I'm gonna spend it BAREFOOT! And possibly on my horsie. And with a very special photog friend! Can you see me smiling? :)

Love thid collection. That family is full of happiness and love... and your HOA? Crazy to try to dictate wardrobe.
