i heart sunflare

Love, love, love the stuff.
Many people think it is a mistake.
Technically, it is a mistake.
What can I say? I am all about mistakes.
sunflare  I_Heart_Faces_noborder_125x100
Two sisters, one blonde and one brunette, inherit the family ranch. Unfortunately, after just a few years, they are in financial trouble. In order to keep the bank from repossessing the ranch, they need to purchase a bull so that they can breed their own stock. The brunette balances their checkbook, then takes their last $600 dollars out west to another ranch where a man has a prize bull for sale.
Upon leaving, she tells her sister, "When I get there, if I decide to buy the bull, I'll contact you to drive out after me and haul it home."
The brunette arrives at the man's ranch, inspects the bull, and decides she does want to buy it. The man tells her that he can sell it for $599, no less. After paying him, she drives to the nearest town to send her sister a telegram to tell her the news.
She walks into the telegraph office, and says, "I want to send a telegram to my sister telling her that I've bought a bull for our ranch. I need her to hitch the trailer to our pickup truck and drive out here so we can haul it home." The telegraph operator explains that he'll be glad to help her, then adds, "It's just 99 cents a word."
Well, after paying for the bull, the brunette only has $1 left. She realizes that she'll only be able to send her sister one word. After thinking for a few minutes, she nods, and says, "I want you to send her the word, 'comfortable.'"
The telegraph operator shakes his head. "How is she ever going to know that you want her to hitch the trailer to your pickup truck and drive out here to haul that bull back to your ranch if you send her the word, 'comfortable'?" The brunette explains, "My sister's blonde."
"She'll read it very slow."
Funnydot.com is where I found this joke.

Hi there,

New(ish) follower here... I just wanted you to know that I literally laughed out loud when I heard this (and got a strange look from my husband)! Very funny... and nice picture, I also love sunflare in photographs.

Oh girl that is a funny joke!!! Good for you! I personally thank God that you are cool with "mistakes" because i don't even know when I make them. Your encouragement keeps me posting my " mistakes" and enjoying the process. This weekend we went to the bluegrass festival. I tried a lot of different settings and just kept pointing and shooting. I erased a lot but I got a few that I felt caught the fun. I heard you in my head**saying just refocus and shoot again! See what a great encourager you are!!

Would you please send me your address?

I love this! It made me laugh out loud. :)

*ahem* those of us who are follicularly challenged with blonde hair just might resemble that joke. ;<) And I love this pic... just saw it on FB and was HOPING that it was the one you would choose. Sunflare is hard for me; flare sounds ugly. So I have renamed it "sunkissed". If my photos are sunkissed, that's a good thing, right? It certainly is in this instance... really lovely, Becky!

You are too much! And that is a cute, cute shot. :-)

I am new to this DSLR business, so I just thought I would check. To get sun flare, you would have to be able to see the sun shine, right? Because we haven't really seen any of that in weeks, and while I hate to miss the challenge, it is not looking good. ;-)

I think the world would be a better place if we all looked for the beauty in "mistakes."

Living in the San Francisco area, we deal with small temblors frequently. Our 1989 earthquake was pretty scary but it, in no way, wreaked the devastation the horrible events of this week dealt Japan. Even their stringent building codes were no match for the power of violent waves.

As part of a global family, it is so heartbreaking to see the pain and suffering of our Japanese friends. With the rest of the world, I pray that healing will be forthcoming and that the world will help as much as possible.

I like sun flare as well - especially when I am in the picture.

Beware of blonde jokes - you have to explain them to all the blondes walking around. {*grin*}
