Photographer Interview: Marie-Pierre Trigla from Paris, France

marie 19Marie is a beginning photographer. She has just started her business in Paris, France. She is like so many; just starting out. The most amazing thing about the pictures in this post that she has taken is that over half of them were shot with her phone. marieIf you are able to see the world beautifully with your phone camera, you are destined to greatness.marie 1
Marie is very nervous about her interview. I told her that she is like all of us. Learning and Growing. marie 1 mobileAnd if you, who are reading this, are not learning and growing…well then, this isn’t a post for you.marie 2
You just started a business, how hard was it for you to begin?marie 2 mobile
Yes, I’ve just started my business as a photographer in 2010.  It sure is hard work to get settled. marie 3I have to get myself known around Paris to get clients. It isn’t easy when your more artist then a business woman. I think it will get better once I am past the first year. Hopefully I will be able to see what I did wrong and avoid doing it again.

marie 3 mobile
What is the number one thing you worried about when you started the business?marie 6 mobile

Will I be able to get clients? Will I be able to be a business woman that doesn't forget my artistic side ??!!!marie 4
How many shoots do you like to do each week?marie 4 mobile
I’d like to take at least 2 shoots a week as I am still working full time.  I’m a part time photographer. marie 5 mobile
What has been your biggest joy about starting a business?marie 6
Being my own boss. Doing something I really like even though it ain’t easy.marie 7
What has been a mistake you made that you would like to spare others from? marie 7 mobileTo count too much on my pictures to get the client on my door step. marie 16People don’t know you, so they don’t really dare to come to you and I’m not a burning (CD) photographer so my price justifies the time and the work I’m doing on the pictures.marie 8
How did you decide what kind of camera to get?marie 8 mobile
When I was studying photography, we had the opportunity to get some good discounts on Canon camera’s so from then, Canon still follows me in my photography adventure.marie 9
Where is a place you can always go for inspiration?marie 9 mobile
Internet, it’s the place to get inspiration like Flickr. Ortherwise going to see exhibitions. I enjoy museums very much.marie 10
Where is your favorite place to shoot?marie 10 mobile
I don’t really have a favorite place on the contrary, I like to try different places but I feel at ease when I don’t have too much disturbing stuff behind my model.marie 11
What is your favorite type of session?marie 11 mobile
I like portraits, I like capturing faces to show expression that people don’t really see.marie 12
Do you have a lot of friends who are photographers?marie 12 mobile
I don’t have many friends who are photographers and do regret it. I’d like to get to know some of them more. I would like to exchange ideas about our work and get some support. marie 17It’s what I’m planning to do this year. Make Photographer friends.marie 13
How does your family support your dream of photography?marie 13 mobile
If I did the step it’s because they support me. My Partner did help me to do the step forward.marie 14
Do you have any other advice to share with us?marie 14 mobile
If you want to start a business as a photographer don’t forget the talent is not the most important thing, you need to developpe your business side. marie 15 mobileYou need to know how to sell yourself.

Wow..Marie-Pierre is wonderful. She has an amazing eye for all things beautiful. All I want to do after seeing her gorgeous work is head over to France. You are going to go far in this business.

Marie-Pierre is well on her way, I'd say! I really like her work. From the photos here I like the 'cobblestones' and how she chose to frame it. Of course the others were very sensitively done as well. I would say that being talented is the first step in becoming a 'photographer'....one must have an 'eye' for it. Doesn't matter how good you are at business, if you can't take a good picture.....

Thanks for this Becky. As usual very well done.

another homerun, Becky! I loved looking thru Marie's art. She has an amazing eye for leading lines, geometric patterns, and I really enjoy her "toy-camera-tilt-shift" effects. I know this might sound silly, but I'm over-the-moon for the circular-patterned street bricks image!

if this is her "beginner" stage i can't wait to see where she goes in the future. those are incredible shots!

I love each and every one of them. I love the variety of the shots and I love the fun factor you inject in them. The tilt-shift one really blew me away. I wish you all the best with your business!

Since this is my year of seeking, I would say learning and growing are my middle names. I love stories of people going after their dreams or passion.

Marie-Pierre does amazing work for being a beginner. These photo's captured my attention...love how she captured the building structures...the coblestone paths...the expressions on the faces...makes me want to go to France...best of luck to her as she begins this adventure. Cheers to people that go after their dreams!

I hear her loud and clear! The biggest struggle with starting a business for me has been "selling myself". I hate self-promotion, but I know it's a necessary evl when starting a business. Like she said, no one is going to know who you are unless you put yourself out there! Great interview and I love the look of her photos! Very unique and special : )

Karen Deborah said...

She has a great eye. Love the pics of people and the countryside. Very lovely.

Great interview! I think the self-promo is a hard thing for most artists. She makes some really good points.

Great use of depth in many of these pictures. Definitely looks like it could be a collection. But the one that got me was the first girl with the long hair. I could write a whole novel with that picture as inspiration. A ghost story.

Lovely! Good luck in your endeavor and don't forget to let the artist out to have fun when the business woman is being a pain.

Cheers,

Casey

And thanks for still liking me even though I cry wolf sometimes!

Loved learning about
Marie and seeing her
side of the world
through her lens. I
think you are right,
the most important
thing is being able to
SEE a wonderful shot
in your mind, first.
Imagine she'll be off
her day job, in a few
years!!
