our happiest days? snow days!

wordishwednesday   I was going to tell you in this post how my parenting is {once again}

snowday 6off-the-charts fantastic.snowday 5

I was going to point out Kaishon’s snow pants are actually his FAVORITE pantssnowday from when he was 7. snowday1He is 11 now and a little bit heftier than he was at age 7.

snowday 7 I was going to show you how he HATES to wear socks, ever, so he doesn’t. snowday 2     I never knew anyone who hated socks before.

snowday 9And I definitely never knew anyone who didn’t wear socks to play in the SNOW!abc(c for cold) snowday 10 He also abhors gloves.snowday 11 You know, those things that EVERY human on the planet wears to keep their fingers from freezing?

snowday 12  Kaishon said they make him feel ‘funny’ and he would rather have cold hands.snowday 14 Well, anyway, I was going to tell you all of those things,

snowday 8but then I started putting the pictures in this post,

snowday 17and I couldn’t stop smiling.snowday 15 The kids had a nearly perfect day.

snowday 16 And I guess Kaishon is OK with his sockless and gloveless situation.snowday 21He might be a little odd but he is wonderful just the same.black and white wednesday

snowday 18 He melts my heart.snowday 20 Did you get to play in the snow this winter?

He makes me cold just looking at him, but those smiles warm my heart!

Ha ha! I used to be just like him.....never wore socks or mitts all winter.....I still rarely wear socks....but ALWAYS wear mitts outside....Awesome shots of an awesome day!

Great pictures - my nephew despises socks too!!

GIRL! I HATE wearing socks! I hate wearing closed toed shoes lol. When we got those 6-10 inches last February back in Louisiana, my hubs made me put on socks and shoes. I was soooo mad lol.

I used to have on of those "snow saucers" when I was a kid. What a fun snow day!

I wasn't a fan of wearing all the bulky snow gear when I was little, but I had to if I wanted to go outside.

Great pics! There is so much snow outside my window - we've gotten close to 6 1/2 feet this winter - insane! And unlike K I love my gloves and socks!

he's a doll. he wouldn't make it too long up here without his gloves and socks...brrrr! i have seen crazies walking into the gym with shorts on though in the below zero temps. i just don't get it.

Johnny hates certain fabric that rubs him the wrong way too. Our two boys are odd together.

Socks drive me nuts too! They look like they had a blast today! No worries Mom look at those smiles....warms my heart!

wow, what a tough nut. I saw a guy running in shorts...crazy! He is a cutie that boy o' yours.

I think sometimes us moms worry way too much...your son looks like he didn't mind one bit if he had cold hands and feet.

You ask about snow....well, let's just say I was enjoying 78 degree sunny skies today. It's very hard to believe all the snow that is hammering the NE and mid-west and way down south we are having a heat wave. Tomorrow expected to hit 82. Sorry to rub that in....I really didn't mean it. You're the one who asked.... ;-)

Hugs...

Shoshi is back! I love that smile. :)

You are one of the coolest mommies. Really. I love it that you are not hung up on the "should's." Kaish is so lucky to have you for a mommy!

Shey said...

hahaha my son hates socks too but I make him wear them anyways, just like my mom did to me, she always told me how I would get sick if I didn't wear socks, so I wore them, and guess what I think when I see my son sockless? He's going to get sick! So I make him put them on, but he's got huge feet and outgrows his socks at a faster level than I can buy a new pack. He would rather go sockless, but he will wear his gloves. I can see Kaish and his buddies had a great time in the snow. =D

That kid is just adorable! There is nothing like a snow day!

Yet another in a growing list of shared likes and dislikes between Kaish and Adam. Adam CONSTANTLY pulls at his socks (which he is required to wear to school, because he wears a uniform). I finally found some that are snug enough that they don't annoy him and soft enough on the inside that they don't drive him crazy. Like you, I just never saw socks as an issue, other than wanting them to match my pants. crazy. Adam doesn't really even like to wear a coat, but I crack down on him. Boys. !!!
I am so glad that you were able to see the joy. THAT is for sure one of your special talents, Becky.. finding the joy in any situation. I love that about you....

Unfortunately we have spent way too much time playing in the snow this winter!!!
How can he hate socks??? I love socks.
And gloves. Oooo I would hate for my fingers to be so cold.
But then I have one who hates to wear a coat.
Kids- go figure.
The pictures are awesome!

photowannabe said...

I'm so glad that Kaishon is his own person, probably a bit cold but its his choice. He looks like he is having a ball with his friends. Do you have to make up all the snow days at the end of school? That can't be too much fun if you do.
Have a great rest of the week Dear Friend.

Snow (or more like ice here) days used to be my favorite when mine was small....now he is FAR too cool to play in the snow!

How funny children are though - your's hates socks while mine ALWAYS wore socks because he couldn't stand the other textures on his feet!

Jenny said...

brrrr, I would be wearing 5 pairs of socks and 2 pairs of gloves. No snow here in FL :) Looks like they had a blast though.

I love it!!!

Russia wears shorts in the snow, but then again he's from Russia and this is not snow to him...this is flurries.

Kaish is the coolest kid I know with the best Mom ever!

Oh that snow looks amazing! We dont get snow here but we do about a 1 hour drive away so last year I got the kids a set of snow boots ($49 and then reduced to $19 and then 75% off that!) and pants super cheap ($4.99 for a pair of snow pants and it was buy one get one free!) But we have not managed to get out in the snow yet and since its summer - we still have a few months to go so hopefully the kids still fit their gear by then! :0 Your photos always make me smile and wish i lived in your neighbour hood!

Caseybumpinalong said...

Wow, you got some really great shots! This post made me smile, too.

Jules said...

I'm afraid I don't venture out much in all the cold and snow. And if I did I'm pretty sure I would have to have socks and gloves. BRRRR

The three of them sure look like they had a fantastic time.

Anita said...

My mom shakes her head when she sees my kids without socks, hats, or whatever. I've tried to convince her that if they get cold enough, they'll put on these items next time. She doesn't buy it...even when I tell her how healthy they are.

Enjoyed your interview over at Simone's.

Boys will be boys. There is no talking them into something they don;t want to do or wear that is for sure. -- and I am so tired of snow... we are in the middle of a blizzard right now!

Kids are different than people! :) I wear socks and fingerless gloves indoors in the cold, cold winter. I could use some kid feelings. Great snaps.

Ok... I get the socks thing a bit. I go barefoot nearly all summer... but not in the winter! lol He makes me cold seeing those bare fingers! :) But it sure looks like they were having a blast!

He's not odd one bit!! Yay for snow days! We are hoping for at least one more before spring -- well, my kids are anyway :) Shoshi is still there? How fun! Looks like the three of them had a lot of fun in the snow, even if Kaish makes me freeze just looking at him with no socks and gloves!!

You just keep being you, Kaish. You rock kid!

Snow days are the best! Except here, if there is a snow day it's usually not fit to be outside in it so the fun is had inside. You captured lots of fun and smiles...he's so lucky to have you as his mom!

Ben is so much like that. He will wear gloves, but he hates socks, and will. not. zip his jacket. I am smiling too--so fun!

Don't forget the snow cream!

I literally shivered seeing those pictures and thinking about playing in the snow with no socks and gloves!

When we were little, we didn't have gloves and would put socks on our hands to play in the snow. :)

I say whatever works. My kid hates jackets. He will wear the gloves and socks but no jacket. Weird?

Love seen the boys play together like that! I really need to schedule a "play date" between my brother Josh and Kaish! They remind me soooo much of each other in pictures :)

I used to hate socks when I was a kid. Gloves though, gotta have those! Haha, I do the same thing though.. I'll be looking through pictures and all I can do is smile no matter how annoying the situation was/is.. the photograph reminds me of the beauty.

jen@odbt said...

He's not the only one. My daughter takes her socks off the minute she gets home/inside. She also takes her gloves off when she plays in the snow. Drives me bats but she's having fun and says she's not cold!

hey, as long as he's having fun, right??? and, I abhor socks & shoes. if it were socially acceptable, I'd have bare feet (and/or with flip flots) all the time. have a great day!!

Oh, my word, how does Kaishon survive like that? I'm frozen clear to the bone just thinking about it! BRRR! I guess that's a kid for ya! Wonderful, heart warming pictures! He's definitely a keeper...and you are, too!

Be sure to stop over today...I'm having a GIVEAWAY!

I agree, odd is good. Glad those kids had fun. If the cold does not bother his toes and fingers, why bother?
My kids have NEVER ever played in the snow.
They don't know what they are missing!

He is SO wonderful. I like him just the way he is. Isaiah would wear Crocks with NO socks outside right now...in 10 degree weather...if I would let him. I tell him that Crocks are off limits when SNOW is on the ground.

I LOVE the pictures!!! We're having the best snow days too...loving being FORCED to be in the house!

Stay safe and warm! *muah*

Same!! I swear....same thing in our house. I just bought new snowpants...the pair one of my boys was wearing...he could not even zipper. He would go out like that...and no socks, too. ;)

I wear socks with shoes or boots, but as soon as I get home, off come the socks and on come slippers.
Kaishon is a darling (I'm sure he hates old ladies saying that) and I can sure see why he is the light of your life.

Well living in a place that has a very long, wicked Winter I can't imagine not wearing gloves or socks. But boys will be boys and I love that K doesn't want to wear them! lol

Fabulous post and pics...as always. :)

I'm with Kaishon on the gloves, yes that hands in sleeves is the only, and best option. That looks a fun time in the snow, December was a perfect snow playing time here.

I love the pictures.
I am so happy about Juan and having the opportunity of spending some time with your lovely family. I know your family would be heartbroken when he goes back, but always remember you offer him a great opportunity not many children get the chance. IS also a great learning and sharing experience for Kaishon.

below zero, recently.
I love your go with it
attitude....LOVE the
last picture, especially!

LOL -- it looks like he had a great time! Wonderful photos!

I never got outside in cold weather without like three or four layers :-) But my son would rather do without such bothersome things as gloves and hats, and half the time he runs home for the bus stop dragging the coat behind him -- sigh. He's hot blooded we joke :-)

I'm a new follower.

this is just great. love the pictures! no socks, huh? i think i'm complete opposite. i have to wear socks even to bed, and here's a little secret, sometimes i like to tuck my pants into them! yikes! :)

And NO! We haven't played in the snow. We don't get that fun white stuff down here in Florida. :( I would love to!! And...I bet I wouldn't wear gloves...socks, however...yes! ;)

Makes me cold just looking at those bare hands and ankles. I wear 6 billion layers year round. My niece doesn't wear socks or gloves either. She's 37 so I'm guessing it's not deadly.

Oh this post made me smile big! He is so right about gloves..... when you are digging in the snow you just end up with wet soggy gloves and cold hands.

Sounds like there is more of the white fluffy stuff on the way. It was fun the first few storms but I am getting sick of it now. I want bluebells and green grass:)

Have a wonderful weekend Becky~
