One thing I don’t love {about photography}

There is just one thing I don’t love about photography. I don’t love that it seems we are always searching for beautiful people.school bus 5

Beautiful cheekbones. Beautiful figures. Beautiful smiles.

Regular is beautiful too.school bus

Very, very beautiful.

I can honestly say that I have never shot anyone that wasn’t beautiful.school bus 2

No one.school bus 3

As I look back at my pictures from the past three years I see so many things.school bus 6

Many body types. Many smiles. Many complexions.strangers

And they are all beautiful.school bus 4

I hope that you, as a photographer, and even more importantly,

as a person,

see beauty in each person you encounter.sully 022

Sometimes we might have to  look a little bit harder.

Sometimes we might get thrown off for a second.

But trust me-

Beauty is there. wordishwednesday

Beauty IS there! I kind of needed this kick in the pants right now lol. I have been trying to find the "perfect, beautiful" shot for our christmas cards. After reading this, I know the exact picture...no one is really looking at the camera, and we're all making different faces :)
As always becky...THANKS!

You always find the beautiful - no matter what. Every picture I see on this site is beautiful.

But thanks for the reminder. Because those of us that aren't photographers also need the reminder to look for the beautiful!

all of your people ARE beautiful, because you photograph them with love.

Roger is right, your people are all beautiful because that's how you see them through the eyes of love and that's the beauty you capture. Beauty is everywhere, it waits for people like you, like me -- all of us, to see with our hearts, not just our eyes. Enjoy the rest of your week, my friend, see lots of love and give Kaishon a hug as always!

You are so very right! Everyone is beautiful in their own way and even more so when you get to know their personalities.

If they are God's creation, which they are...they are beautiful as you say. I couldn't agree more... Beautiful in every color, age, and circumstance.

You've shown us so much beauty today...Your camera...God's hand.

I agree with you, and I wish photographers in the fashion industry (because I'm a fashiony girl) would see the beauty in girls that are not only size 0 or younger than 20. There is beauty in everyone because the Lord made us in his image. I really like all your photographs because like you said all the people you've photograph are beautiful. =)

Ahhh. And your gift, dear one, is the ability to spotlight that beauty. Whether it's right there on the surface or hidden deep, you manage to showcase it and make it shine. And that makes YOU one of the most fabulous photog/bloggers that I know!

Beautiful words, as always, Becky. And so true. Beauty IS everywhere and we just need to open our eyes and our hearts to see it more clearly.

And once again - you stop me in my tracks. I so agree - there is beauty everywhere. We just need to see it.

I love ALL your beautiful pictures, sweet girl. (But the tree shots? Knock me out!!)

Ah..so true. THere is beauty in everything...we are just blind at times!

I definitely think you are beautiful both inside and out. I love the way you see people and their heart. It reflects in the way you photograph them.
I especially like the pouty, thoughtful girl in the first shot.

So true, our own beauty is our own uniqueness.
Thanks for this uplifting post.
And beautiful pictures ;)

Beautifully said! Beauty is everywhere. In the wrinkled hands of an old woman. On the scarred face of a young man. In the old abandoned farm. It's all about looking at the world and the people in it through not only the lens of our camera, but with our hearts. :)

Thanks for reminding us of this important message :-) We should see beauty in everybody, because everybody is beautiful in their own rights. Thanks so much!

Actually, I feel the opposite about photography. It has helped me see the beauty in the most regular mundane things. For instace, Christmas lights. They're pretty and all, but now that I know I can make pretty bokeh with them...I get all happy & giddy inside! So for me, it's been finding the beauty in the details that keeps photography interesting and rewarding :)

Lori said...

You are so right my beautiful friend...and yes I do see beauty everywhere...many times in the most unexpected places...such beauty you share here...love that last shot a lot! Happy hump day! XX

Man I love you.
Sheesh.

Truer words were never spoken.
I would take the unique, and different, and "normal" and "flawed" over "perfect" or "symmetrical" any day! It really IS where true beauty resides.

Amen sister! What a beautiful post! and great photos as always! :)

I absolutely agree Becky - there are times that we need to look deeper to see the beauty in someone but in essence, there is beauty in everyone. And as a photographer, it is wonderful that you know that. I come here, always, for your photos. Hugs!

I love this post - it's so inspiring, and true. My friends get self-conscious when I try to take their pictures, and it's hard for me to convince them that they are beautiful.

It's funny.....I seem to be noticing the beauty in people more now that I'm looking through my lens!!!
