Knock Knock. Who's there? Banana

Knock, knock. Who's there? Banana
Knock, knock. Who's there? Banana
Knock, knock. Who's there? Orange
Orange Who?
Orange you glad I didn't say banana?

Important things I have to tell you:

1. Kaishon had a big surprise a few weeks ago.
My Mom and sister and Juan helped me work all day on it.
We started the moment he left for school.
It was one of the most wonderful days.
He was just a little bit happy.
Can you tell?
I keep meaning to post about it!
MUST do that this week.

2.If I start getting more serious about pictures,
I need a new computer.
So, I need to know,
do you think I need a Mac.
You.
Whoever you are : )
If you use a regular computer and you think it is just perfect for pictures, tell me.
One of my big holdups with Mac is that you can't use
Windows Live Writer to write blog posts.
I can't really begin to fathom that-
although,
this brings me to #

3. Windows Live Writer keeps telling me I have errors.
Over and over again every day.
It is enough to make me not want to blog
And you know that is INSANE!

and last but not least:
4. Orange is Kaishon's favorite colour.
He has orange shirts and pants,
shorts and coats,
hats and gloves
and flip flops.
His glasses are orange.
I think he is the coolest kid on the planet.
I adore my little lover of all things orange.
I don't know if I have ever told you before,
but I thought I should today!

Thank you so much for coming and reading this blog.
Thank you for your kindness and encouragement.
Every day {every single day} you are a blessing.
May your week be filled with joy.
Love, Becky who is going thru Windows Live Writer Withdrawl
(although, truth be told...blogger isn't that crazy right now...maybe I could come back to this)

It's Orange Week at I Heart Faces!

I use an HP Laptop and have Photoshop 4 on it and it does just fine. Plus, if you wait until right before the new models come out, you can get the old model for a really good price. My laptop cost me a grand total of $450! It really didn't have anything different from the new ones except the keyboard and some random software I'd never use anyway. Good luck!

I love my Mac, and it does me well with photos. There are a number of Mac apps out there which would mimic LiveWriter. I've never used any of them though. I type what I want to say in a text document, upload my photos to Photobucket and then into Blogger. I paste the text where I want it and I'm done.

Looking forward to hearing about his big surprise.

Love that capture of Kaish!

Hi Becky,
I think your pics are fine. But I really don't know enough about a Mac to comment on it. I love your pics and writing.
What WAS that big surprise?!

P.S. We got the Dell Studio XPS last year and it so-totally-rocks with its quad-core processor. You gotta have that if you're using a ton of media.

I don't know anything about Macs. Hmmmmm. You've got us on a cliff about what the big surprise was. I'm staying tuned to find out!

Great photo - I'm on a Dell laptop and it works just fine. I also use Blogger and I'm pretty satisfied. I'm going to be upgrading my computer soon and I'll still be on a PC. I just can't rationalize the expense of a Mac. Not right now.

I love orange too. That Kaishon is a smart kid!
I have an HP and I really like it. I tried Windows live writer and for some reason I can't get it to work, so I have just stuck with blogger.

LOVE my mac, I think it's worth every penny. But praying mine doesn't break because I couldn't afford another one! :) But I've had mine for a few years and never had any problems with it. I don't have any problems posting directly through blogger, either. Good luck with your decision (get a mac!)

orange is a cool color...for artsy stuff i like Mac...mine died so i am on a PC now, but Mac is the way to go...and nice tease on the surprise....waiting....

Oh what a great photo!! Can't wait to hear what the surprise was. Can't help you w/ the Mac vs. pc question. Wish I knew more about that stuff.

Kaishon = adorable, as usual.

Yes, you need a mac!!! ;)

I have an HP Pavilion and love it. I have both Elements 5 and CS4 on it. The Mac is soooooo expensive. While it'd be cool to learn Mac, I think I'll stick with this. At least, if it needs replacing, it's not going to cost an arm and a leg.

Love ya Becky!

Hi,

Never used to like orange until I started my company and now I love it! If I were you, I'd get a MAC - it WILL be my next computer. In my experience, there are just too many things that seem to go wrong with PC's and MACs are the best for photos, graphics, video. I'm sure you will be able to use something comparable for your blogging. Although I've had PCs for a long time I do know that I've wasted money - MACs out rank PCs in my humble opinion. Finally, I consider it a blessing to have found your blog - makes me smile every single time!

Did I miss something? What was the surprise? I REALLY need to know cos I'm REALLY curious.

I've told you before and I'll tell you again, and probably again and again, but that child of yours is just gorgeous! He is so very photogenic with a plethora of facial expressions. I love to look at photos of him.

Thanks for sharing Kaishon with the world Becky.x

Can't wait to hear and see what got that response out of Kaishon! He's so expressive and fun. :-)

I truly do LOVE my Mac! The thing I use all the time is iPhoto, their photo organizer. It has a simple but powerful editing tool that I use almost exclusively. Love it! And it is very easy to then take your photos and put them into movies and slideshows with music. Very fun! They recently came out with a new system upgrade, so this would actually be a good time to buy one and get the latest and greatest. :-)

And, Safari is getting along very well with blogger--I have heard people report a lot of problems, but I have never experienced them. Posting photos is slightly laborious though, I will admit. Good luck with your deciding!! You will have gorgeous photos and a heart-filled blog no matter what you choose.

Well, you certainly don't "need" a MAC, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE mine!! Whatever you decide to get, I'm sure you'll be thrilled to get a new computer! I have the Macook, but I'm eyeing the mama jamma Mac Desktop! That's the next thing I'm getting whenever I actually have space for a desktop computer :)

Can't wait to hear what you had up your sleeve for Kaishon! Maybe I can borrow your idea. My little brother could use a good cheering up :o/

Hi Becky! I first came over here because I saw your comment on Jasmine's post about you starting 'The Shack'. What do you think of it? I have it sitting on my floor from my Mother In Law. It's on my to do list of books to read. My 15 year old brother in law read it and wasn't too impressed, but I'm thinking maybe he wasn't really old enough to Get it?

Then I saw your question about the Mac vs PC and I thought I'd share my 2 cents. I just bought a Mac after being a PC user my whole life. I'm still totally getting used to it. I do like the Mac but I don't think it changed my photography. There's nothing I am doing with the Mac that I couldn't do with the PC. I use lightroom just as I did before, and my photos look the same. Well, they look better on the Mac because I have a 20.5 inch desktop on the mac vs a 15 inch laptop screen on the pc. If you have the finances, you'll be happy with the mac, once you learn to use it. But, I don't think that it revolutionizes photography. It's just a means of displaying the digitally. It's how you take the photos that makes the photography.

My 2 cents. :) I was going to stick with the hp but then I was having trouble with color calibration sticking with PC. I probably caved to all the peer pressure to get a Mac too, if I'm realistic haha!

Love the photos of your little man. Keep writing!

I have to be honest.... we converted to a Mac over a year ago. And I LOVE IT! I don't think I would ever switch back now. There's nothing I don't like about it.

I agree with your son... I love the color orange too. And I love your photo of that sweet boy of yours! Can't wait to hear all about the surprise.

Hope you have a fabulous week!

Oh my, that is a precious look on Kaishon's face. Can't wait to hear how it got there!
I love my mac, but pc's are nice, too. Macs are very user friendly and (usually) bug free, but I think it's a preference thing. Personally, once I bought my first Mac I was hooked. Not sure about the blogging tools, I use google blogger but my blog is pretty basic.
P.S. I love how much you love Kaishon! It is shines through your blog and is quite lovely! Have a great day!

Oooh, I don't know if I could give up Live Writer. And I don't even blog as regularly as you do, Becky! As for Mac vs PC when it comes to pictures, I've heard that Mac is better. In fact, I've never met anyone who regretted switching to a Mac. I've wondered the same thing myself when it comes time to replace our desktop. I'll be interested to know which product you ultimately choose.

Now that I've got that out of the way... Can I just say that I adore that Kaishon love the color orange. It's Jeff's favorite color, too. And it is such a happy color!

At the risk of reiterating what a lot of others have said already, I LOVE my Mac and would never go back to a PC. I almost never have problems with it, it's way faster, and you don't have to worry so much about viruses.

For me, the biggest boon to photo developing was starting to use Lightroom. As for blogging, I've never used LiveWriter so I can't really offer any helpful comments. I just write directly into wordpress (or blogger, when I had a blogger account). Or if I need more "thought space", I write in MS Word and then copy and paste into the post.

Looking forward to hearing the surprise!

Well, you know how much I loved LiveWriter. It really was the only thing keeping me with Windows. I managed to wean myself from LiveWriter and now use Blogo. Not nearly as good, but the Mac is GOOD! AWESOME. WONDERFUL. 99.999% BUG FREE. TO DIE FOR. :)

I don't regret it. I'm not saying it's the computer you must have. I'm just saying it was the right one for me.

Becky, you really have a wonderful way with words - and capturing the raw emotion of your subjects! I love all of the expressions Kaishon gives you. He seems to be very comfortable in front of the camera!

Can't wait till you reveal the surprise - and I Love how you all worked on it together for him. He's a lucky guy...

As for the computer discussion - Im a Mac girl since 2004 and I would NEVER go back! LOL
Since the workshop in Bethlehem, I got a acbook Pro, CS5 & Lightroom. The interface with LR, CS5, iphoto & blogger has been extremely uncomplicated!
Oh - & I have nEVER one time had a virus on either one of my Macs... 'nuff said ;-)
