Things I loved at the Philadelphia Photo Walk

The first time I ever went to a photo walk I was disappointed.photowalk2 002
Very disappointed.photowalk2 014
I remember thinking there was a professional there to teach us
and she kept on getting out her camera and shooting photowalk1 (and getting in my way)
over and over again.photowalk 010
Plus, at the time I abhorred editing, photowalk 003
so I was thinking, photowalk 006
no way am I editing these pictures of some chick I don’t even know
for FREE!photowalk2 008
Now, many months later,
I am in a different place.
Editing still drives me batty!
But I am learning a few tricks and things are going much smoother.
I tried not to shoot too much on Saturday.photowalk 016
I didn’t want anyone to miss shots because of me.
I had to sneak a few shots in though
because everyone was so darn adorable.  photowalk2 003

I want to end this by saying
if you like to take pictures
own it.photowalk2 021
If you have a point and shoot-
if you have a throw away camera-
if you have the most expensive camera on the planet-
Have Fun.photowalk 019
Shoot a  lot.
Reach for the stars.
Maybe I should say
‘shoot for the stars.’
(in the right setting of course: )
    (U for Ubiquitous.
I wish my camera was ubiquitous on Saturday so I would not have missed one moment.)

I dont' know how to edit at all yet and I'm always impressed with your gorgeous photographs. It would have been such a waste(of talent) if you hadn't taken some photos that day!!

Amen to that Becky. That's what blogging has done for me. I "own" what I do.
My son just went on a photo shoot ike that and was so frustrated with one of the photographers and his rudeness to everyone including the host. Its not that way most of the time though.
Take a look at my son's site
http://www.studio5300.com/
he's doing a terrific job. Then take a look at my Granddaughter's site. She's 10 years old and sure knows how to use a camera.

Ok lots to do. Love your pictures and your sense of style.

After all of that commenting, I meant to give you the site to google for the blog book....
BlogstoPrint its from SharedBooks
Just google that and it will take you right to the site. Its a bit expensive but now I have my posts right in my hand and hopefully for the family sometime in the distant future.

I am so sad I am not more in the loop over at Iheartfaces. Darn I would have loved to do a walk. Shoot. or in my case I didn't. So sad. But great shots. Nice job.

wowzers, Becky - you went way over and beyond just a mere photowalk - you provided your attendees with a full-on gorgeous smorgasbord of models upon which to build a stunning portfolio!!

Philly is lucky to have you! :-)

Oh, I take so many pictures! I always just hope to get one or two that I REALLY like. The rest get deleted. You got so many beautiful ones out of this. You did a great job!

Kelly said...

Amen to that!!! Glad you had a great photowalk!

Hilary said...

Great advice and photos. It doesn't cost anything but battery time to keep on clicking. I delete far more than I keep.. but I wouldn't be keeping much if I didn't click at whim. Nicely done. :)

Remembering an earlier time and seeing where you are now shows your growth and how much you have learned. Taking pictures still seems daunting but little by little I take time to take a photo and send it online to family and friends. It is a start.

Your photos are just marvelous and I do admire your talent for editing.

Most of all I love your header - such a beautiful engaging smile.

I just use the camera phone, Becky, but I do have fun with it! I just snap what looks good to me and sometimes it even turns out being something I can share.

I'm in awe of your talent, however, and I have no idea what editing a photo is! You're probably more amazing than I know!

Ellie said...

Well, I'm pretty jealous! How fun was that photo walk?! your photos are gorgeous! Own it :)

Why edit, when you can get such beautiful photos like these. UNBELIEVABLE! I can't even pick a favorite. Are people in Philly just so beautiful, or is there a filter you add to your camera that does that?

R. J. said...

I missed the Philly Photo Walk. I've never heard of it, but I live in a cave :-) It sounds wonderful and I wondered if it is an annual event. Where do they hold it? Editing is very time consuming, but rewarding.

Lol! Too funny! I was bummed out I missed the photowalk, but from the pictures it looks like quite the experience! I like your message to "own it". Actually, I think I would probably feel a little intimidated shooting with "professionals", but we all start somewhere, no?? Shouldn't let that stop me or anyone!

Christy said...

Great advice! Sometimes I feel like my photos are quite as good because I have a point and click, but I still love to take them!

Great shots!

I so wanted to do a photowalk, but I'd been to a conference the Saturday before and just didn't think I could be gone another. I love your pictures from it.

Lynn said...

I love the way you tell a story with your words and your photos. It is also really neat to see the photowalk photos from the same walk shot by different people. The perspectives can be so different and make the same subject matter have a different meaning or emotion. I am looking forward to one in South Florida next! Thank you for the very wonderful comments on my photos. When I really like a photo of mine and then I get nice compliments it is like the cherry on top of a sundae.

I'm sure you'll be seeing many beach pictures over the summer - I only wish it wasn't so hard to shoot in midday sun - we aren't always there in the evening.
