embracing the blur

Please don’t come here to see perfect pictures!

Occasionally I might hit the mark.ice cream

But more often than not,

there will be blur!

there will be lack of sharpness!

there will be problematic editing…ice cream 1

You know what will always be here though?

As long as this blog is alive : )

Happy Children.laundry 2

I can see why people would only want the best pictures on their blogs.

photo story friday laundry 4

I mean, knowing that for all the rest of time, you have a picture out there that isn’t 5 star quality can be a little nerve wracking.

But to tell you the truth…

a lot of my pictures aren’t perfect.laundry 3

These are our real, every day memories.

And to me, they are just beautiful.shoshi

Blur and all!

my pics are far from perfect or even good most of the time, but I can't help but still get excited every time I go to upload the memory card b/c I know I'll see my little ones' eyes staring back at me and that I captured a moment forever! And that's what it's about!!

Forget the perfect picture. It's aaaall about that perfect moment ;)

Photos are meant to me imperfect. Capturing moments that are real and forever remembered.

That's why I follow you. :-)

What are you talking about!?! Your pictures are always perfect! Love the happy children pictures but also love them all.

My theory is that the blurrier the picture, the more you enjoyed the moment :) That or low lighting, who knows? Anyways, blur can be a good thing :D

Love this post, and all the shots. Sometimes the pictures that aren't perfect are the best ones, I think. They have so much character. :)

Honey, at my house life is blurry and full of not-so-perfect moments!Which is prob'ly why I cherish the photos I take that have my boys' happy faces in them...blurs and all. Thanks for reminding me!

Of course perfect pictures are nice to look at but I also enjoy looking at the not so perfects ones too. Seeing happy children makes me smile. Seeing the happy children here at your special place always makes my day better! :) Smile & hugs, Lori

Oh, what nice photos. You do such a great job, all your photos are sort of unusual. Distinct. Unique.

I believe the best artwork is that which is NOT perfect. I am a fan of all of your photos. It's not just in the sharpness either. It's in the subjects and how you capture emotions and angles and cute expressions.

Perfection doesn't always have to mean that it's perfect, does it? Take the Stones (since I blogged about them) - they don't have the "perfect-sounding" lead singer, or guitarist, or drummer ... but to me, their songs are perfect ... even more so in their imperfection.

I read Ralph Waldo Emerson in high school and really liked his stuff. I thing a blurry picture is better than none at all--at least we get an idea.

Oh, and congrats on getting a kitten.

I always come here for your awesome photography, my friend. Seriously. What you do from behind a lense blows my point and shoot efforts out of the water.

I love it!

Thanks for your goofy post on my blog...you are the coolest! Looking forward to July!

ah you made me so ashamed.

I don't care much about the picture quality. I care more about what the story in it. I know it's a shame.

your pictures are beautiful, and so are the stories in them.

To me pictures are for capturing moments and memories... whether the pictures are perfect or not.

Carrie and Troy Keiser said...

To me there is something called "perfect imperfection"! Your memories captured and your moments remembered. What more can you ask for that happy kids?

Chris said...

NEVER apologize for your pictures. Post them, and let us come and find the beauty in them.

I think these are all wonderful -- though I love the shot of everyone looking down at the camera!

Well done.

I'm a 50/50 photographer...50% of the time I might get a decent pic...and I know NOTHING about editing, so what you see if what you get!

debi9kids said...

Great post!
I actually just posted a pic on my blog today that has a very blurry photo, but it happened to be the only one I had to capture a specific moment...so, blurry it is :)

Valerie@composition-life said...

But it is often in the imperfections where we find beauty! But I must admit - I love the first shot!

parentingBYdummies said...

My pictures are not perfect either, which is what I think makes them beautiful. They capture life's imperfections that, left out, would make for a dull life. Not that I don't appreciate a quiet, perfect day as much as the next gal, but sometimes you gotta mix things up to make them awesome!

Nessa said...

They are always beautiful faces.

Thank you for the kind words you left me yesterday. You hit the nail on the head, as far as trying to make everything perfect and he's still unhappy. The spending the night elsewhere is probably good advice. One he gets out for a while and does his own thing without me breathing down his neck, it does help.

Thanks again :)

Aren't photos fun! I love trying to capture those Kodak moments frozen in time. Good shots and the ice cream--I'm drooling. I have promised myself ice cream at the end of June. No dairy until then.

I feel like you are a photo journalist...ever consider a career change?

lizcooper said...

I think your pictures capture your family perfectly whether they are technically perfect or not! I love the one of them all looking down at the camera! I also think that even professional photographers look at their pictures and find flaws. Perfection is unattainable!

Serline said...

And just as ubiquitous, things that bring smiles to children's faces... have a blessed weekend!

Lolli said...

I feel exactly the same way! Some of my favorite pictures are not the technically best.

Jesslyn Amber said...

Don't doubt yourself! Your pictures are great! And you're exactly right! It's more about the moments because those little moments are what you cherish forever.

The circle picture is my favorite. I have to copy you with that one.

I have to agree, sometimes the feeling of the photo is the most important part, blurry or busy background or whatever, its what you feel when you look at it.
Yours are wonderful!

Thanks for visiting my blog!

I know what you mean about the blur. I rarely, if ever have perfect images, but the happiness it brings is the important part. Blurry, or not these moments will never happen again, and it is awesome that you are capturing them! I love your images!

"these are our real, everyday memories..."

yes. SO yes. I love this post.

Thanks for your note at my blog today about my placing at I ♥ Faces! It wasn't my first time entering, but I hadn't entered in over a year, I think, so it was really fun to have that shot place!

I agree with you about all of that (despite that I think your pictures are all beautiful and flawless)! The beauty is in the memory, not the quality of the picture!

Even your blurry pictures still look good, it looks like you wanted them done that way. I don't think I've ever seen a bad picture you've taken. By the way, how do you make your pictures come out big on your blog and do you use Photo shop to do your editing? I use the free photoshop, but the pics still don't come out great. My hubby has one of those expensive cameras, but I don't how to use them and don't understand the setting!

Hilary said...

Oh agreed. If I waited for the perfect picture, I'd have an empty blog. It's the "good enoughs" that truly are perfect. ;)
