Ordinary Days

"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.

Let me learn from you, l

ove you, bless you before you depart.

Let me not pass you by

in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow.

Let me hold you while I may,

for it may not always be so.

One day, I shall dig my nails into the earth,

or bury my face in the pillow,

or stretch myself taut,

or raise my hands to the sky and want,

more than all the world,

your return."

I'm looking forward to ordinary days eventually coming my way. Lately, it doesn't seem like there is a day without major projects to finish. I can't wait until the big sigh of relief when college is done, IEPs are written, and I can bask in the summer sun with my family enjoying a normal day. Thanks for the reminder of what is important!

I need to write this poem on a note card and carry it around with me as a reminder. I spend so much time daydreaming about tomorrow that I lose myself among today.

Sometimes it's poems like this that remind me to stop and breathe and enjoy ordinary days.

The poem is lovely; the pictures even lovlier. Truly, a picture IS worth 1000 words, even words as well written as these. Your "ordinary" days are beautiful; so many people would consider each one to be extraordinarily special. Just like you.........

I'm with Drew, it doesn't feel like I've had an ordinary day in a long time. But I've had ordinary minutes and even hours. Those are pretty good too.

Your photos are always such delicious eye candy, Becky! Thanks.

I couldn't agree more ... I just need to remember that a little more often.

I passed through some of your other posts - what a great place to stop today - the new baby (so beautiful) and your mom - what an inspriration. I think you might have to start a fan club for your mom - I'll join!!!

Ummmm, hello?? Is that your CAR Kaishon is digging out from under the snow? Cuh-RAZEE!! I would never last a second in the coldness. 3 inches is about all I can take :)

Love the pix. They're all so fun. Especially hiking the snow mountain to the car, scraper in hand. That one cracks me up.

I needed the quote at the end, too. I've been in such a rut, in part due to the dailiness of life. Sometimes it's not a change of circumstances we need so much as a change of perspective. Thanks! :D
