Apparently We Are Gun Lovers…

I Heart Faces

wants to see some mistakes this week.

Pictures you probably should have erased!

Apparently we are gun lovers

as all three of my entries

features a “Stick ‘em up” moment.

Do you know that when I posted the above pictures

I didn’t even notice the guns pointing at the

Senior Citizens heads… Craziness!

normal

This was taken last weekend.

They were playing a shooting game with Ben.

Ben loves guns!

It looks like they are saying:

‘Give me the baby or else!’

Do you let your kids play with guns?

We aren’t opposed to it.

We are, however, opposed to shooting Senior Citizens

and kidnapping babies.

Just in case you wondered!

I have to admit, I did flinch a bit when I saw that last picture.

My husband has a concealed weapons permit, but I've never shot a gun in my life. Not a fan. But give me some Jack Bauer shooting it up, anyday!

We had a rule when I was a kid, and that was we couldn't point our toy guns at anyone, unless you were playing cops and robbers or that kind of thing.

I think I will probably stick with that rule.

jlo said...

No. But, they have never asked. I don't know what I would have done, had I had boys. It's pretty ingrained in them whether you introduce it to them or not, isn't it?

April said...

Yeah, we have toys guns too! The kids love them. If they don't use those they make em' out of paper. I think our rule is that they can pretend with us or our family, but not the neighbors since we don't know how they feel.

Baby Favorite said...

Wellll.... I'm opposed to shooting senior citizens. But kidnapping babies? Let me get back to you on that one. ;-)

Yes, I've let my kids play with guns. They never took a huge interest in them, but I imagine if I'd made a big issue out of NOT letting them play with 'em, they might have been extra intrigued.

Great pictures, as ALWAYS!

funny, funny pictures!!!
I WAS opposed to guns...until I had boys-they seem to make guns out of anything, so I decided to just go with it...(I mean PLAY guns-)
My two oldest got Nerf guns from my sister for their birthday in Jan. The littest one was feeling left out, so my husband even went and got him a little Nerf gun...
When my parents (who raised two GIRLS-) came over, and saw them shooting their guns, and the blocks arranged as bunkers, my mom said, "You don't let them shoot each other?!"
I started laughing...and said, Mom, it is different with boys then when you raised me and jen...

I grew up in a house absolutely full of guns. My Daddy was gun crazy. But I was always scared of them. We had a friend that accidently killed another friend when we were 11. I has always stuck with me. That horrible feeling.

My 11 year old boy, likes to play with swords. But I'm sure if my daddy was still alive, he would have him all interested in guns:-) I totally support our 2nd amendment right to guns.

Boys will be boys and they will use anything as a gun - blowdryer, plastic toy figure. I just love that your sister is sitting there so calmly with the baby.

We do not have guns in our house...but boys can turn anything into a weapon or gun. LOL That is just in them. Too funny about the Senior citizens. Cute pictures.

We are not opposed to guns, meaning play guns, but we do have some rules....... even when playing:) It is kind of hard to avoid the gun thing with boys. Nick just got a paintball gun for Christmas......he LOVES it!!!

Have a wonderful week!!

I love the second picture! That is hilarious!! I was opposed to letting my kids play with guns, until I had a little boy and realized they will make guns out of sticks, Legos, bread crust, their fingers...basically anything!

Is that a real baby or a baby doll? Wow, looks like a little doll, how precious.

My first boy didn't play with guns, then I had my 2nd boy, who loved Ghostbusters and the ray guns. Then he moved on to Indiana Jones. He was even a SWAT officer for Halloween and now he's a cowboy. I instill into him that he has to be the good guy, can't "shoot anyone" etc. The rules don't always stick.

Boys will be boys and we can't take away from their imagination and I agree, boys will make guns out of anything.

Your boy is so cute. Great photos.

We were a no-gun home until recently. I don't allow real guns in the house (that's after losing several friends and family members to freak gun accidents), but we do have a fake gun for the Wii. Our rule is that you never EVER point a gun at someone ... even a fake one. Do it once and lose the toy. We started teaching that lesson early on (when our son would build a gun out of legos if left alone long enough). I think it's a good balance.

I do support people's rights to own guns; I just hope my children are never improperly supervised in a home with them. Too scary for me.

Side note: Our kiddo takes his first gun safety course this summer. I think that will alleviate some of the worry (but our no-gun policy will remain in effect).

What boy hasn't played with guns. I played with my share as a kid.

And you are so right. It looks like they're robbing those ladies. Cute.

We don't have toy guns but Simon has his very own BB gun at Grandpa's house. Grandpa is VERY safe and it's their special activity.

Last weekend I watched two boys turn some rolled up towels (that were for their baptisms) into guns. So, yeah, the only way to get boys to not play with guns is to not let them play with anything.

Pam D said...

Oh dear. We are NRA members. I have taken training on shooting a pistol. We have guns (safely), and our boy, as a Cub Scout, has taken a BOAT load of training on gun safety, has his own Red Ryder BB gun, and heads out into the woods with it. Honestly? I really think that, with all of his training and access to guns, he is far less likely to "experiment" should he find one somewhere that is unattended. But, that's just me.
ANYWAY... the pics CRACK ME UP! All of 'em. And yeah... I'm not so big on kidnapping senior citizens, but I too shall have to get back to you on newborns. Especially THAT cute li'l munchkin! heeee... !

Chocolate Covered Daydreams said...

When I was a kid, we had cap guns and water guns but when I had kids, the only guns allowed for them to play with were water guns.

The main thing is that kids realize that there is a difference between a toy gun and a real one. Once they are old enough to respect a real one, then they should be taught gun safety (if they will be around them).

Funny pictures. I've been struggling to figure out exactly what to post this week... Hmmm.

I'm not opposed to playing with guns and strongly support gun safety for real weapons too.

Love the senior citizen hold up picture...different knowing it's a toy. Not a big fan of real guns...worked retail one too many hold ups! But boys and their toys are what it's all about.

Maggie May said...

Er........ no! I think they are too horrific. However, they then pick up a stick or a cardboard tube and pretend with that. Seems an inherent trait in boys.

never let me son play with guns or tanks or anything I decided was a violent toy
meanwhile he and his friends would run around shooting each other with their fingers, bananas, pens, whatever
what the hell did I know!? ;)

the last shot gave me a jolt, it's just so vivid

So funny. If I had to use a gun to get candy, well then it must be done.
My girls never showed an interest in guns.
Knives however, they love. :0

thats pretty funny that your entries are themed! The last one is great and so clear and the first one is juxtaposed perfectly!

candacesoon said...

It was never a big deal even though I don't personally like guns until I finally had a boy. Now, at 2.5 yrs old, he constructs guns out of whatever he can find! He uses his fingers to shoot at "bad guys" in Disney movies! It seems to be a loosing battle for me to make him not "play" guns. So I've been trying to say that he can't point them at people, only imaginary things.
Anyway, great blog post and funny pics!

These crack me up! Our kids innocently played with guns too or made "swords" out of scrap lumber and sticks, but we did tell them not to shoot Senior Citizens! Classic Outtakes!

I've done the studies: guns are to boys as babies are to girls. Not a thing wrong with it, so put your mind at ease!

And I'm a professional and stuff, so I should know! :)

I gotta tell you, those with the Sr citizens are SO HILARIOUS! HAHAHAHA And the second one, the lady DOES look scared! HAHAHHA

pretty hilarious.

we haven't deciding on the gun thing yet. my hubby used to duck hunt, and i don't know if we are going to let dustyn have play guns or not. we may wait till his old enough to know what real guns can really do.

I WAS anti-gun. Until I met my husband and he gave me lessons so I knew how to handle them. How to be safe. Now I have a shotgun and a pistol that are mine and I'm a pretty darn good shot:)

I am not opposed to gun play. Some of my fondest memories where playing cowboys with my brother. He was Roy Rogers and I was Dale Evans. In real life they would never shoot each other but I loved it when I got my brother right between the eyes (make believe of course).

SBSAKE Photography said...

It's funny you should ask... I am highly scared of guns. My kids know not to aim them at anyone period. I grew up around them too. My dad was a sharp shooter in the military and most of the men in my family hunt. But I have always been highly afraid of them. Even on someone that needs to have them, like a security guard or police officer. Luckily my husband doesn't have to have one for any reason.

BTW, I love your pictures of the trick-r-treating type of photo, give me your candy or I'll shoot. It's kind of a cops and robbers type of scenario making them oh so cute!

Lolli said...

These pictures are cracking me up!!

Yes, my boys have guns but I try to remind them that even toy guns should not be pointed at people (esp. old ladies and babies!) Haha!

Tezzie said...

Ha! That last one is too funny...love the contrast between boys with the gun, and a girl lovingly taking care of the 'baby' :D

As for 'playing with guns', I'm pretty much opposed to it...but with grandpa across the street being a hunter pretty much as a profession, and grandpa over in Canada hunting as a hobby, keeping the kids 'gun free' is as good as impossible. I limit it to brightly coloured water guns that they are officially allowed to play with...although my boy finds any old thing and pretends it's a gun *sigh*

Mark said...

If they can't play with toy guns now and get it out of their sytems, they'll play with real guns later.
I like the pictures.

Jenny said...

LOL, those are hilarious. I do let my son play with toy guns, because let's face it if we didn't they would just use their fingers or sticks as guns.

LOL. So funny! I'm glad that you're opposed to shooting senior citizens and kidnapping babies. That's good to know. Of course, Isaiah plays with toy guns...pop guns, nerf guns, cap guns...you name it. He's all boy. I actually have my own gun. My dad taught me how to shoot when I was in college and I've owned a gun every since. I do live in Oklahoma...land of Cowboys and Indians...LOL. Just kidding. Well, sort of.

Glad you at least set some "gun play" boundaries!

I'm okay with gun-play. They will do it whether you give them the toy guns or not, so might as well roll with it! :)

Hi :D No, we don't allow guns at all in our house (even take them off the Action Man and Playmobil Policeman) and we discourage violent play. That said, the bigger boys will make guns of anything and living where we do there are stick-guns abounding. I have slackened over the years and they are allowed to race around the house playing armies these days, and they do have toy soldiers. I have always said they can play at 'real' war (as I actually think it helps them understand conflict to some degree), but they can't just shoot at & 'kill' each other for the hell of it! Kind of a loose-tight rule, but they get it & it works for us :D Living in the UK we don't have so much of a gun culture anyway ~ thankfully :D!! And I'll be honest I don't ever find guns funny - they make me cringe to the core! ~ sorry!

your photos are great :) the last one made me jump until i realized what was going on in the picture haha.

and in reference to the 'i heart tooshies' week, i didn't enter a little baby bum. i just wished there had been a little more variety in the winner circle. does that make sense? all those photos were phenomenal, don't get me wrong. just, it catered to the cute little baby tooshies and those of us with older tooshies features were a little left out. idk, it's really just my opinion. lol.

Oh my goodness! Laughed my butt off! (At least I wish I could say that . . . but no, it's still all there.) Boys are a hoot aren't they? Our whole family is pro-gun, so to see my little guy running around with his plastic holsters and his shiny silver pea shooters is a pretty regular occurance. But I'll have to remember to draw the line with letting the kids take them out in public to prey on senior citizens and babies. lol

yes they play with toy guns...but they usually start with their finger when they're very little. My 7 yr old grew up with lord of the rings, the hulk and star wars (due to elder brother & cousins)...but he was born a soldier...it's his nature that he would lay his life down...it's just hard for to accept that. don't ask me how i know...that's just the way it is i guess.

These are GREAT out takes. You know Kirsty at A Little Bit of Sanity and A Lot Of Chaos just did a post on gun play today. We aren't opposed either...if we don't give them the Nerf guns they'll make their own anyway. Instinct I suppose. Thanks for visiting my blog! Glad to find you!
