Celebrating the family !

LG_I_Heart_Faces kimmys family

I love families.

Big ones.

And little ones.

This is my friend Kimmy’s family.

They are especially nice.

Here is a joke for your week:

THE INHERITANCE

Two friends meet in the street. One looked forlorn and almost on the verge of tears. The other man said, "Hey, how come you look like the whole world caved in?"

The sad fellow said, "Let me tell you. Three weeks ago, an uncle died and left me forty thousand dollars."

"That's not bad."

"Hold on, I'm just getting started. Two weeks ago, a cousin I never knew kicked the bucket and left me eighty-five thousand free and clear."

"I'd like that."

"Last week my grandfather passed away. I inherited almost a quarter of a million."

"The how come you look so glum?"

"This week - nothing!"

How often do you get a family picture taken?

We haven’t had one taken since

our vacation in 2008.

I am not a big fan of pictures of myself.

Even as I type that though,

I realize how selfish that is.

We will get one the next time

we have a person available to snap one!

And I will show it to you, OK?

We managed to get a couple of shots taken of our crew when the family was all together for a wedding recently.. my ex and I and our two sons.

Looking forward to your family photo.

That's a great pic of Kimmy's family. :-) How creative.

That joke? DOH! LOL!

Other than doing a self timer pic Christmas 2008, I got nothing. Hopefully, I will get done soon with my new camera.

Can't wait to see yours! Thanks for the comment.

Great pics as usual...and as for family pics...it appears that I have never been on vacation with my family because I am the one taking all the photos...like most moms.

Happy Sunday, lMnop

I love this photo, as I love all of your photos.

Plus, it kinda reminds me of the opening credits to Modern Family!

Super cute. I love the frame idea.
We used to do it 2 times a year at Sears...now I have my nice camera so i just hand it to someone and let them take our family shot...or use the tripod. I love having our pictures made.

So creative, Becky! And that's what it takes to win now... "out of the box" (or in this case, "out of the frame"!) pictures. You nailed it... and I love it!

Definitely get a family photo taken! Just make sure to arrange everyone so that they are flattering to you. That's what I do...which means I am in the back hiding. :)

Just had to drop by, first of all to check out your beautiful picture this week, but also to let you know that I have been very busy preparing for tomorrow (I mean today). You must go check it out: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2323/2214068861_244404f48a.jpg?v=0

Great pic - love it!! We just tried a family shot with a tripod - didn't go so well. LOL Guess I need to hire a photographer!

Our last family sitting in a studio was in 2008, too. Starting this year, I'll make it a point to have at least one good family photo taken not necessarily at a studio...

I love that joke. Poor guy :)

The last picture I have of me with my four kids together was Christmas of 2000! It's like pulling teeth to get them all in one state at the same time!

Carly said...

Love the frame on this photo! I've always loved that look and never tried it myself. Since it's just my hubby and I we have 'family' photos taken about once a month, many self-portraits. We actually were given a camera remote for Christmas, so we'll have to try that out and maybe take some more!

Amy @ Living Locurto said...

What an adorable family and super cute photo by you!!

We haven't had a family photo since the summer before last. It's crazy how much our kids have changed since then. My husband hates having his photo taken, so I have a lot of my and the kids:-) At least they will know what one of us looked like.

Alicia said...

Yes, I want to see a picture of you!!

I love this one that you took! Gorgeous!

awesome family picture! great job.

we took family pictures this summer for the first in over four years! with three young children it was just too much stress to even try to attempt! glad we finally did it though!

This beautiful and creative - and that family are gorgeous!! Great entry :D ~ and I can't believe how many comments you have already!! Just shows how much it pays to be as generous with your commenting as you are; people know you and take the time to visit ~ and if they are like me, they are grateful for your time :D

Tabor said...

Not that we are old and retired, we rarely take family pictures. I regretted that I didn't set the timer on the clock over Thanksgiving or Christmas, but this summer I will do so.

I try to get someone to snap a family shot whenever I can, but they often don't turn out very well! Plus it's hard to get a "true" family shot with my step-daughter only here at certain times.

Love the pic, and the great joke too! If only I could have his problems!!! :)

Great photo! And seriously looking forward to seeing all of you in a photo too! I rarely find mself behind the camera. I hate how I look and avoid it at all costs. I need to work on that for my girls I guess!

Trudy said...

I hear you there, I'm not a big fan of being behind the camera either but you HAVE to! Not to be morbid, but your family will treasure that when you are gone!

Mel said...

Thanks for stopping by. I would love to have family pics taken every year....but we usually end up every couple of years. Your picture on your header instantly made me smile when I clicked over to your site.:)

I LOVE this sweet, fun photo. And that whole frame idea is a great way to get everyone just a little bit closer (c'mon y'all, squeeze into the frame!!!) :-)

I force my family into the tripod-self-timer family portrait once a year for our Christmas card!

That is an excellent photo! Given that I am the photographer in our house, I am missing from most of our photos. Safer for lenses that way.

Cute picture! Like the joke too. We don't have family pics done very often...usually only right before the hubby deploys, which I realize is kind of bad...We do have the kiddos photographed frequently though.

What a fantastic picture! I love the way you framed it...So Great! I never am in any pictures and I think my hubby has noticed and that's probably why Santa brought me a remote for my camera in my stocking. I haven't used it yet, but I am feeling the itch to be creative with some family shots! ;)

I love your photo, especially the frame in front and the field in the background.
And I agree with you about being in photos. I used to hate it, but then I realized how special the photos of my mom and I are to me and I wanted to make sure my kids would have that too. They've also turned out to be some of my most cherished photos from their babyhoods as well.

Melinda said...

I almost entered mine like this too!! Great minds think a like; but the greatest mind sticks with their original decision - that would be you because I changed my mind at the last minute. Love this photo!!

Liz said...

That is a great photo. We haven't had "professional" pictures done since 1998. We usually just have someone snap our picture when we are out and about. Bryan doesn't like the fake posed look that happens in studios.
