Our Tree Still Isn’t Up!

mom 4 I read the funniest joke at THIS BLOG this week!

A burglar broke into a house one night. He shined his flashlight around, looking for valuables when a voice in the dark said,
'Jesus knows you're here.'
He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his flashlight off, and froze.
When he heard nothing more, after a bit, he shook his head and continued.
Just as he pulled the stereo out so he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard
'Jesus is watching you.'
Freaked out, he shined his light around frantically, looking for the source of the voice.
Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot.
parrot-blue
'Did you say that?' he hissed at the parrot.
'Yep', the parrot confessed, then squawked, 'I'm just trying to warn you that he is watching you.'
The burglar relaxed. 'Warn me, huh? Who in the world are you?'
'Moses,' replied the bird.
'Moses?' the burglar laughed. 'What kind of people would name a bird Moses?'
'The kind of people that would name a Rottweiler Jesus.'rottweiler

I’m not going to lie. These dogs scare me a little.

Jimminy Crickets!

What is your favorite kind of dog?

Kaish wants one for Christmas!

Remember our dog debacle from last year?

I just don’t know….

That's funny. And, I'm with you. Any dog that weighs more than me doesn't belong in the house, it belongs in a barn.

Funny! And that picture is hilarious!

Funny story. My favorite dog is the Golden Retriever - but we are also partial in this family, to Dachshund.

Too funny. I remember hearing that a while ago. Still funny. Oh I would have to say a golden retriever or German shepherds.
Get your tree up would you? :)

Boxers are our favorite. Newfoundlands are next but they are HUGE!!!

I almost came home from K-Mart with a free puppy today. They were the cutest little balls of fur!!

Oh goody I'm still laughing. A full genuine laugh! It's so good for the belly.

Thank you.

I wanted a dog for pet before but dh isn't agreeing and the more I read about how needy dogs are, the more I want a kitten.

However my heart if still for a dog. They are so happy and loyal etc.

But I don't know which I'd want.

Go get your tree up!

Merry Christmas to you!

I LOVE that picture of your parents with the kids. It honestly shows how it really is most of the time. Most of the time people only show the best photo's that really don't depict how photo time really is. :)

I love Golden Retrievers and labs. We had a golden retriever for 17 years and then had to put her down 2 years ago and that was horrible for me. Just can't get myself to get another dog.

Good luck with this and getting your tree up! :) XX Lori

I've heard that a couple of times before too! So funny!!

Cute picture too! LOL

I love that family photo... oh, what a great memory! And the joke cracked me up... makes me think of the song "Jesus is Coming Soon"! Or maybe of the time that Jesus was in the temple with all of those moneylenders? heh.
Dogs. Oh, dogs. We LOVE our Blackie Sue... we got her through a rescue agency. We did get to see her mom, who was a Golden Retriever mix. Blackie looks black Lab-ish, but she has white paws, nose, chest and tip of tail. And her paws are speckled, like an Australian Sheepdog. WhatEVER she is, it's a perfect mix, and the joy she brings more than makes up for the mess that she causes (sort of like kids. Actually, JUST like kids...). So, get your tree up, and then get a dog... it will make you feel better!

This is so funny. I should have named my dog Jesus!!!
I have met a lot of sweet Rotties...but they are intimidating.
My favorite dogs are boxers...you knew that right? They sometimes scare people, but that cracks me up because they are sissy lap dogs.

Getting in my car right now..should be there in about 18 hours...bringing a tree, lights and ornaments. Oh, and 3 cats for Kaish.

LOVE that joke! We have no dog Thank Goodness, the minute my mom's dogs knocked my oldest over and I heard his head hit the tile...NO DOGS!!! We dogsit my mom's lab and that is enough!

No dog for us. We aren't good at potty training for dogs.

Don't worry about the tree. The only thing required for a Santa Visit is a kid.

Sarah said...

I love the picture of (is it your parents?) holding the kids, how they're all squirming and crying, too cute! Lol!

The joke is hilarious, I've heard it before but it's still funny! I personally love Rottweilers, I've never had one but I've met two of them and they were both so sweet and lovable, just like big teddy bears.

My favourite dog is a chocolate labrador, we have one and she is absolutely a beautiful dog. She is full of love and fun and she still thinks she's a lapdog even though she outgrew that two years ago! :D

Absolutely love the picture - so fitting for this time of year. You should see some of our outtakes - could give yours a run...I'm just not brave enough to post them. Merry Christmas!

Hilarious joke. I needed that! my fave dogs are labs, especially yellow, and golden retrievers. They are both amazing family dogs and I've heard they are good with kids. We can't have a dog in our apartment =( but if we could, that's what I'd get!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, by the way!

I guess I'm pretty slow, cause I have never heard that one! It killed me. We have huskies and chihuahuas in my house. We also have cats but I like the dogs better.

Oh, now that's too funny! I don't love most Chihuahuas, but my little one is adorable (a little biased, I know.)

My all-time favorite would probably be a lab though!

I love that story, had heard it before but forgotten it!

You know me, we love animals! I don't really have a favorite breed, it is more of what clicks with you and the family. Labs are great family dogs, Princess is a lab mix. Make sure YOU are ready for the dog, it will not really be Kaish's. I love all my animals, but I do ALL the work.... Tara does very very little, but love on them!

Love that story!!!

I am most fond of yellow labs, like my sweet Jasmine, but I also love golden retrievers and collies. For some reason, I really like the looks of rottweilers, though, too! They don't intimidate me much. (We have three across the street; maybe that's why.)

Daphine said...

And oh... I would have to say that a BUG - half boston terrier/half pug is my favorite!

hi! thanks for visiting my site. i love all kinds of dogs, but i think the best family dogs are golden retrievers or a mixed/mutt of some kind - i had a retriever for 11 years growing up and he let all my nieces and nephews pull on his ears and he would just smile away and lick their hands. he was soo gentle. the last 12 years my husband (now ex) and i have shared a German Shepherd-Husky mutt and she was very gentle, sweet natured. Shepherds are a bit smarter than retrievers or labs, but she had a rough start so was of a very timid nature (we adopted her). i don't tend to be thrilled over smaller dogs (i'm biased, i guess) - i find them a) yappy and b) they have napoleonic complexes (a lot of them) - tend to be ruff n' tuff and high strung (i find). i like BIG dogs. well, that's my advice! happy holly days!

My faves are beagles...I hear they're excitable, but something about Snoopy moves me. We're actually cat people over here. One of the reasons our tree is up...but not decorated. Waiting for the eldest to come home tonite, too!

Great post as always and a big laugh as well. We have two dogs, mine is a Miniature Schnauzer and Adam's (my son) is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever and she is wonderful and would make a great pal for Kaishon, but she is pretty big. My Schnauzer is fun and feisty and very lovable and doesn't occupy as much space and he, too, would make a great friend. I've had four of them over the years, my kids grew up with them and we all loved them.
You can see both of them on my blog in my Pet Pride post each week.

Wishing you and Kaishon and all your family a most wonderful and joyful Merry Christmas!

Hahaha! I've heard it before, but it's still funny! LOL!

My favourite kind of dog is the greyhound! Just beautiful, sweet, gentle-natured, lazy dogs!

Rottweilers? My friend's BF has eight!! Apparently they're all well behaved, though I wouldn't want to be alone in the house with them.

That is awesome! I love it. I don't think I could get a Rottweiler...they freak me out too.

Merry Christmas Rebeckah!

That joke is hilarious!

Dogs! You know about the love of my life, JJ....but, he's only a grand-dog, not really mine.

I had a cockapoo for 18 years. His name was Charlie. Cockapoos are a mix of Cocker Spaniel and Poodle. The reason I got him was because of allergies, and any poodle mix is supposed to be a good choice of you have alergies. Plus, and this is huge...they don't shed all over.

Now a days there are plenty of different breeds mixed with poodles. You can look on-line, but check with your local shelters. My Charlie was a pound puppy but it took months finding him because they are pretty popular.

BTW, I love your beautiful family photo. Your dad is the only one smiling, lol!

The daughter is TERRIFIED of dogs. There was one old Irish setter she liked, but he died.

I'M afraid of a Rott myself.

Kristen@nosmallthing said...

Haha! Rottweilers scare me, too. And pit bulls. I can't help it.

Anyway, my fave is the lab. They are a LOT of work. Lot of work. They have a LOT of energy. But they are the most loyal wonderful friendly, smart, hard working dogs. I adore them. The Man won't get one...too big he says. (cry)

If you don't have your tree up by now you should just go to wal-mart and get a 3' pre lit tree and call it good! I have one that belongs to my boys where they can hang up there ornaments that they make so they aren't on the big tree and it took like 3 minutes to set up! Hang up a few ornaments and call it good!

And I read that joke somewhere too. Very funny. Those dogs scare me a tad too, along with pitbulls.

Hmmm - we're more the Labrador Retriever family than a Rottweiler - the kind of scare me a little too.

OMGosh that is one cute picture! Funny story! We aren't dog people but if I had to get one I'd pick a Shih Tzu.

I have a staffy/mastiff cross - at least that's what her papers say but as she was a rescue dog we can't be sure, definitely staffy in there though.

She's the most gorgeous, well behaved sook of a dog ever and has even won over my mum who has never really liked dogs. I've always had a soft spot for a staffy and when friends of ours had to return to Germany and couldn't take her with them it was a no-brainer that she would come and live with us.

The cats still haven't quite forgiven me nearly 2 years later though.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I am sad that the rain is washing away the snow! I think the anticipation of the snow last Saturday was almost as exciting as Christmas morning!

So, did you ever put up that tree!

Hilary said...

Great joke. :)

I only know of one person who had a Rottweiler and that dog was the most gentle beast you could ever know.. even after he suffered a baseball bat blow to the head from a visiting child (an inadvertent mistake) and spent many weeks recovering. The owners were fearful that he might react poorly when he saw that child again but he simply quivered with tail wags as he did for everyone he loved. He was a really good dog but I can see why they might intimidate you.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you and yours all the best for the New Year.

Adrienne in Ohio said...

Too cute! Rottweilers do have an intimidating appearance. But I've personally known two that were very sweet and gentle. (And I'm not a dog person.) If I were going to get a dog, it would be either a greyhound or a yorkie. (I know, they're complete opposites.)

I had to put my dog to sleep last Friday. He was 12. My last black lab was 17...I got him in college before I was married. I had a black lab in high school...so I would have to say that's my favorite breed. Now I am just sad adn thinking my next dog will be a therapy dog...but that will take a lot of time adn training...so for now we are dogless :(

Hope your Christmas was Merry- Have a wonderful New Year!

That is funny. I do remember last year. Research some breeds. A fiest might be a good match for your family. The little dog in the story "My Dog Skip."

My favorite is a large standard poodle. Clipped in a regular dog haircut they are the best and no shedding. They do how ever have very high grooming needs. If you can spend the money to take them to the groomer once a month then take a look at them. They are very intelligent and responsive to people. They love to play or too curl up. For their size they are very graceful inside the house and yet agile outside to romp and play. In short--the perfect companion.
