the Christmas Concert that knocked our socks off…

Last night,

while many of you were relaxing in your cozy homes,

we headed out into the frigid night

for a Christmas Concert.

concert 001The Chorus was beautiful.

Our school only has a concert for the 4th and 5th graders.

They rocked it.

Shoshi’s Mom came with us.

concert 003

Did you notice that all the boys

are wearing long sleeve dress shirts?

Did you notice that Kaish isn’t?

That is because

his Super Duper Amazing Mother

didn’t have him try his dress shirt on

until the night before the concert.

A year has passed since he last wore it.

It was Way Too Tight.

No problem!

I will just head out to the store after work

and pick up a new one.

This is where I went:

Kohls

Ross

Vanity Fair

Wallmart

I was growing more and more nervous

with each store I left behind.

Guess what?

Not one white dress shirt in the right size to be found.

Apparently most mothers shop for these concerts

weeks ahead of time…

Who knew?

I put him in a freshly laundered

school shirt and called it a day.

I don’t think anyone noticed!

Merry Christmas to all my SITS girls!

Have you experienced

your school Christmas concert

for the season yet?

You are totally Super Duper Amazing. Who cares about a silly shirt?

Mighty M said...

Oh, well. When you get the shirt next year it will last that much longer! Hope you have a fun SITSmas today!

What a great looking group of kids. I agree with Scary Mommy, who cares about the length of the sleeves! Funny, I think I read of this same situation last year around the holidays on another blog. That needs to be one of those things they put in the "What every Mother Needs to Know" handbook when they start providing one when we bring them home!

Merry SITSmas. I didn't even notice he was in a short-sleeved shirt. I'm notorious for waiting until the last minute and then freaking out too.

No one noticed and if they did they didn't care. Yes, we got to see all of AJ's concerts and now Jack's. AJ is in band now and he will have a concert at night. I can't do night because of health reasons but Jack's is during the day! AJ understands.

It's odd how they keep growing while we aren't looking. =)

Merry SITSmas!

I can't wait til my daughter gets to perform in Christmas concerts. And WOW on no long-sleeved white dress shirts for boys at ANY of those stores??? I thought Walmart had everything!

Don't even worry about the shirt! Being a veteran chorister myself - I was told they just want the sea of white on the top, dipping into black nothingness...Dramatic right? That's musician's for ya.

Merry SITSmas

P.S. Thank you for your kind words over at my neck of the woods. Writing it out made me feel much better.

No school Christmas concert yet...;) I think that only happens in 4th and 5th grade here....Kaish looked great and I would not have even noticed till you pointed it out...don't you hate when someone tells you that?? Sorry...adorable pics!

As long as they have a white shirt on - although when I was a kid, the Nuns used to get really picky about things like that.

Jessica Nunemaker said...

That is *so* me!

Kid #1 (4) was an angel at Church this past Sunday. I thought he had a white shirt but completely forgot that he had worn it outside IN THE DIRT and ruined it. Oops.

He wore a green and red striped shirt -- not as bad as the girl who wore an orange polka dot dress! LOL!

Merry SITs!

We don't have concerts anymore because they stop all that cute stuff at the end of elementary school!!!
FYI, we always had issues finding the right clothes for the concerts....last minute too!!!!
Glad the kids had fun and did well.

And I believe it was the big man upstairs that said,
"Make a joyful noise." Not, "What are you wearing?""

What the heck is SITSmas? i am having flashbacks to my sitz bath after giving birth?? This is not what it means, is it?

Beautiful pictures. Both.

What sleeves? See, did not notice it!

First visit to you blog, and I just have to mention that I just digg your banner. It is so clean and striking.

Fab Merry SITSmas!!!!

Merry SITSmas!

I'm glad you didn't freak out over him having the wrong shirt. There are more important things to worry about!

Well, it wasn't for lack of an effort...he looks great! We attended my step-daughter's choir concert last week but there's was for the whole school so we watched her sing about 6 songs and then the rest was everyone else! I wish they would split them up more.

I feel your pain. I had to have black dress pants for R1's Christmas performance this coming Sunday. Thankfully Kohl's had his size. I bet the sound of the kids singing was music to your ears! Have a great week my friend!

He looks fine. Kids grow quickly and it could happen to anybody!

Wishing you a very merry SITSmas!

It happens to all of us! Merry SITSmas! Seems like you and he had a great time!

My husband and I are serving in Montgomery Alabama (not the place I ever thought God would send me! I was thinking more like Africa or something!) with Child Evangelism Fellowship. My husband's main job is to get local churches to adopt a public school and train them to have a Bible Club in the school run by the church. God is doing some amazing work here!

Have a Merry Christmas!

I wouldn't have noticed the shirt if you hadn't pointed it out! No biggie...you're still up for Mom of the Year! :) I haven't been to a Christmas concert yet...but no holiday season would be complete without one, so hopefully soon!

Hope you're having a great day!!

Seriously, what is UP with the buyers in these stores? They could sell SO many plain white shirts and black shoes if they were just prepared! And I got to enjoy the 4th grade band's first performance ever this morning. A performance that only a parent could love (and I need to get a REAAALLY good gift for that band teacher... she obviously has the patience of Job!). LOVE the pics, and in the end, the shirt didn't matter at all, did it?

Hi,

The last anonymous commentin your post on your children sleding in Chinese is a pornographic message. You may want to delete it.

I get so angry when people do that to wholesome family sites.

Please delete this one of mine too.

Thanks

I think that choir bought all the long sleeve shirts in your town. I bought my grandson some at Walmart. they come packaged with a tie...but still, they are pretty cheap. I bet no one notice Kaishon's short sleeves. I never would have if you didnt say something. Fa-La-La-La-La!!

Kaishon & Moe has a lot in common! Moe started singing in choir when he was 9 years old. This is the first year he's not in choir because of his class load.

Loved the choir pic!

Christmas concerts are always fun! I was in band in jr/sr high school. I miss those days!

The pictures you took are so good! It's funny how when you are looking for something in particular you can't find it. But any other time you see it everywhere.

My daughter had her concert last week. Thankfully she just had to wear 'dress' clothes and I can't believe I squeaked another year out of her dress. A little tight, but it worked. Your shirt episode is exactly something I would have done. I feel for you, really. He looked just as cute in short sleeves though! ;-)
