I picked up the phone and could NOT believe what I was hearing!

It happened just this morning.

Today was Kaishon’s first meeting for student council.

He was SO excited.

Now he was sick yesterday.

Very sick.

Shivers and freezing and burning up sick.

He told me he was better.

He begged me to send him.

So, being the BRILLIANT mother that I am

(I know, I know)

I packed him in the car and took him to school.

1o minutes later the phone rang.

I had just gotten on the expressway

and was zipping towards Philadelphia.

I answered.

Sure enough.

It was the school nurse.

Kaishon was throwing up in her office.

I raced back to get him.

I almost cried when I saw my forlorn little figure

sitting on the sick bench.

He told me with great sadness

that he had only heard 2 introductions before feeling ill.

He raced out of the meeting

and into the nurse.

He is so sad about missing the meeting.

All day he asked me what he missed.

I told him he will go next month and find out.

One month until the next meeting.

To Kaishon this is a lifetime!

I am leaving for Dallas in the morning.

I haven’t flown without Kaish in many years.

I am nervous.

And I ordered my ticket online.

Do I just go to the desk and tell them that?

I have NO idea!

None at all.

Both the boys are sick and don’t want me to go.

Even my Daddy told me I didn’t have to go

tonight when I called to find out

how to get to the airport.

( I am going to get lost!)

I used a Writer’s Workshop prompt tonight.

Go read some more great stories!

Where did you fly the last time you flew?

Awww..poor baby!!!

I'll be praying for you and your boys!!!

Oh poor Kaishon...poor momma! This flu thing is not comes and goes.

You will do just fine flying alone! Just will come back with tons of fun stories and photos. I think when you order online there is some machine that you go to in the airport to get your ticket...could be wrong, but that's what I'm guessing. Praying for a safe and worry free flight :)

Oh, I hope Kaishon is feeling better soon. Especially with mommy leaving town.

All you need is your drivers license, and there is probably a self check in kiosk. If you have luggage a porter can help you. Safe travels...missy!!!! Kaishon and Gary will be fine.

the last time I flew was to Virginia, but I fly to CA a lot.

There's a great deal of evidence that makes me think that god put us here, at least in part, to fight illness. Each one we overcome toughens us. Your son is weak now, but this is just a time of soreness before the "muscle" becomes stronger.

What a sad disappointment for him.

Poor thing. That's the worst - to be sick on a day he was looking forward to?
Enjoy your trip to Dallas. I love to fly! My last flight was to San Antonio.

That's so hard to leave when your 2 guys are sick but I am sure they will be fine. It will most likely be a good thing for you to get away. I buy my tickets on line all the time. Most of the time they send me something via e-mail that I can print off and most of the time I even check in on my computor before I go to the airport. If the airline didn't send you an e-ticket or a confirmation number, then go to the ticket desk of the airline your flying out of. They are so helpful that they will take care of everything. Especially if they know you don't know what to do.

The last time I flew was to Florida and back and I ended up being really sick for my flight back home. It was horrible but I lived to tell about

Good luck my will do just fine!! XXOO Lori

What a trooper he is...he really wanted to go to that meeting! I hope all the boys feel better and safe travels.

Poor Kaishon...just breaks my heart that he's so sick! I know how much that meeting meant to him.

I can definitely understand your reservations about flying right now. I don't usually travel without my girls. That's just the way I am...I'm a worry wart! I'm sure your family will be fine as you travel to Dallas. I would recommend you go up to the ticket counter if you have any questions. We buy our tickets online and go to one of the ticket kiosks...makes things so much easier.

Praying for safe travels and that Kaishon recovers SOON!

Poor little guy. A month is a lifetime for one his age. Hope he gets better soon---both of them. As for you, good luck. That is scary but you will figure it out and all will work out. I'd be feeling the same way. I've never flown alone and hope I never do. Good luck.

Oh, no! I know he must have been heartbroken. Poor guy.

We've always taken copies of our email confirmation with us to Delta. Not sure if they are all the same, tho.

Have a great trip!!

Poor Kaishon! How disappointing!

Have fun on your trip. You probably just go to the ticket counter, most of the times now you don't need anything printed out.

That is a tough one, Rebekah. There is nothing that rips my heart out more than when my kids are sick. Be strong! Be brave! You'll make it through.

Otherwise, just skip it and stay home. That's a good option too. :)

Oh, poor Kaishon! If there's anything worse than being sick, it's missing something good because of being sick. Give the poor lad a hug for me.

My kids and I have been sick all week, so hard! I hope traveling goes okay for you. Oh, and when you buy your tickets online you should be able to just go up and be in their system. But you may want to print out the receipt at least. Good luck!

Poor baby! I know he must be so disappointed. Hope the trip goes well. Last time I flew was to New Orleans and it was so much fun! You just pick up the tickets at the little computer screens now usually and they print right off.

That is so sweet that he is so excited over a school function! But I hate it when little ones get sick!!

Awwww . . . poor little guy. I hope your wee ones get to feeling better very soon.

What a dilemna you face! It's hard enough to leave them, when they're feeling 100%, but when they're sick . . . ACK! I'll be thinking of you and keeping you all in my prayers.
