How Boys Play.

Between the innocence of babyhood

and the dignity of manhood,

we find a delightful creature of a boy.
-- Author Unknown

Once upon a time,

Kaishon and Jonathon were lonely.

Then Shoshi moved in!

fighting 1 What this meant

was that there was someone new to fight with.

Every day. All day long. They fight.

fighting 2 I hear screaming.

I hear yelling.

But when I go to break them up,

there is happiness on their faces.

They play by fighting.

fighting 3 It is extreme.

It is scary.

It is exhilarating.

(Or so I am told)fighting 4

I love boys!

I used to think we must have

the coolest house in the neighborhood

because Everyone comes here to play.

Today I realized,

I am the only mother

INSANE

enough to let the boys be rowdy.

His laughter... sparkled

like a splash of water in sunlight.

When is the last time

you saw a good boy fight?

Want to come over?

Super cute, and what my house is like. My boys are only two and four, and we have daily sword fights, gun battles and nerf ball hitting. Then let’s not forget the daily battle when they team up to fight against the Deceptions. Fun times!

Nice! It's so cool that you understand how boys play.

We have to let them be who they are.

Love your pictures and stories!!!

Boys are definitely different than girls. My boys love to wrestle and box...in love though! :)

Boys are such a foreign concept to me and my girls are not calm, but when I am around a group of boys it always takes me a little bit to get adjusted to their play. What a great mom you are...:)

Someone always gets hurt. Jacob lost a tooth a little early from body slamming his brother. :)

so tender, so true....and to answer the question, the last 'men' I saw fighting were having a full out brawl in the middle of the street, middle of the day, for the world to see....oh, how 'fighting' can be so different in the boys-to-men world... adorable pics and friendship captured in your words and photos

I have a daugher...but she is such a "tomboy" sometimes I feel like I have a boy!
Great way to tell the story.

kaishon seriously is already a little man! I can not believe it! I can't believe he still takes baths ;0) Liam already likes to wrestle ;0)

Super cute boys! Just returning the favor of a visit! I see a good fight at least once a day, but it is my daughter and son. And they are generally out for blood.

Looks like they're having a blast!! I have 3 boys so I see plenty of boy fights....I can't believe how rowdy they can get!!!

I had girls! And I think it was the right thing.... :)
But I love that you let your boy be rowdy. Kids need to get their energy out and playing outside is the best way.

It doesn't get better. Even as adults. So glad you are the insane type of mother. There needs to be one in every neighborhood. Enjoy!

Ummm....I see a boy fight like every single day. I should point out that it's not just the boys fighting...Jordyn holds her own pretty well too. It's so neat that Kaishon has so many kids to hang out with. Our neighbor doesn't have young kids.

Insane mothers make for good fun.
Love those boys and their high energy...best to take it out in play than in trouble. right?

The last boy fight I saw... was something somewhere between boys and men. My husband is one of five brothers, the oldest being 25 and the youngest being 15. All of them have wrestled for high school, all of them are crazy athletic... and all of them think beating each other bloody is great fun on the trampoline outback of their mother's house.

My mother in law is a brave, brave woman... You have my kudos for putting up with even a smidgen of it!

Kier and Gavin my great nephews always wind up fighting when we are together. They chase each other then fall to the floor and wrestle! It's a boy thing! Great photos!

I loved this! The last "boy fight" I saw was between my son & hubby. They wrestle and there's always something that breaks in the house!

Oh man. My two sons and husband fight, it stresses me OUT! :)

The last boy fight in this house was Daddy and Vin on Sunday. There was kicking and howling and screaching and all kinds of insanity...just the way they like it!

And our neighborhood has, on any given day, a war with spies and army men and reinforcements and Indiana Jones and whiffle ball and races and wedgies and nerf guns and footballs...No wonder I feel sad about moving!

Boys have great fights don't they... but just as soon as the fight is over, it's forgotten and they are best buds again. Girls on the other hand... we don't have time for how their fights go on & on & on & on & ... you get the idea!

Boys will be boys, so they say. My boyfriend and his brother had some real knock-down/drag-outs when they were kids...but it seemed to be almost a hobby of theirs. They enjoyed it. I guess it was how they figured out who they were?

Aren't you the coolest mom in the neighborhood:)

You are probably THE coolest mom evah! I wish our neighborhood had more children. My son never "goes out to play" like I did when I was younger.

Your photos are amazing! I grew up in a house of girls, so I always envied the rowdy boys with their loud freedom!

I'm blessed enough to see a good boy fight just about every day! :P I do want to come over! I would love your house...I just know it!

My brother and cousin was the same way! They play fought all the time. Oh, the memories!

I love it! And I love boys! There is nothing like some fun rowdy boys. This sounds so much like how my house was when my own boys were young...I really really miss those days now that they are gone. I remember thinking "I must be insane." and yet having so darn much fun! Love the pictures!

God I love this post. The idea of letting boys play like boys has been lost on far too many. Kids, boys specifically, will find a way to do what is ingrained in them...and I think it's far better to let them do it in your presence so you can still keep an eye on them :-)

BTW, lovely photos!
