C is for Chicken Parmigiana

You might or might not know,

but I am a bad cook.

What? You don’t think bad is a strong enough description?

Alright, alright. I am a terrible cook.

I try. I really, really try.

And I do not succeed.

This summer I have been attempting

Simple and Quick Recipes.a chicken 5

Everything tastes great to me.

(Sadly)

Kaish and Naji eat it, so I assume it is decent.

And Gary, well, even when I make my BEST meals,

he requests a McDonald’s cheeseburger afterwards.

So, you see, I wasn’t entirely surprised

by Naji’s recent Food Discovery.

I was disgusted. Horrified really. But not surprised.

One night, we had all eaten dinner.

No one said it was awful : )

I was feeling great.

Naji and Kaish were playing in the living room after supper.

I was doing the dishes.

Happy as a lark.

I heard Kaishon proclaim that Naji’s breath smelled Horrible.

I ignored it!

After a few more statements about said breath,

I called Naji over for a consultation.

The breath was indeed ferocious.

Whatever on earth was that horrible smell I inquired.

Timidly, Naji reached behind his back

and pulled out a bag of Cat Treats.

Oh yes, you did read that right.

Naji was eating CAT *TREATS!a chicken 2

Apparently, these cat treats are delicious.

He told me he liked them more

than potato chips or cheese curls.

I told him I didn’t think it was a healthy snack choice!

I went to the cabinet the snacks reside in to move them to safety,

and what did I find?

4 of the 5 bags were gone.

Apparently, Naji had been snacking on

the sTiNkInG cat treats for weeks.

Gary thinks it’s hilarious.

My Mom is angry with me for not feeding the boys better…

I think it says a lot about my cooking.

But whatever : )

The cat treats are now gone from our house.

And I made Naji promise that he will

never Ever eat cat food again.

What is the worst thing your kid ever ate?

Here is my recipe for Chicken Parmigiana!

Be prepared to be AmAzEd : )

Go to the Market and buy a bag of this:

a chicken 1

Cut it and pour it in the skillet.chicken 3

Eat and Enjoy!

No one will be eating cat snacks after this.

As long as Naji isn’t visiting…7 clown

I have to admit something...I just about peed my pants reading this! Eating cat treats...now, that's a new one to me! Wowza! LOVE your "recipe" for Chicken Parmigiana...you're MY kind of girl!

Ummm, can't top that one.... OMG. How much did you laugh once you get over the shock??

My kids have only ever eaten human food... Dog treats are very blaah and smell awful before consumption so I think that was our safety.

The dinner recipe looks easy...:0)

Is that not the funniest story ever! OH my gosh I almsot died laughing!

I used to eat cat food when I was young and look how I turned out...there is still plenty of hope for your son.... Actually maybe not... get him some help while you can! :D

I am still laughing about this!

OMG that was so funny!! I wonder if his breath would have smelled better had he eaten "Greenies"? They make my cats breath and teeth fresh!
And that meal is one of their best, have you tried all the other ones?

Shannon said...

mmmm. YUCK! I cannot think of anything horrible my kids have eaten - that i know about... besides the fact that my lil' girl LOVES shrimp and the texture of that stuff makes me hurl! And of course, my lil boy ate dirt a couple times when he was small (what boy doesn't?)!

Marilyn said...

That is just hilarious. I feel for you though. You have your hands full. My kids didn't eat weird things---that I know of.

I tried cat food once when I was little... ewwww!

We've tried the Bertolli meals before. I use to make them for take to work meals. They are pretty good!

The cat treat bag says:

Tender Moments
Soft and Delicious

And years from now, that's exactly what the memories will be.

It won't kill him, and probably has more nourishment than chips.

Steph at Problem Solvin' Mom said...

Oh my goodness gracious!!! At least if they are better than potato chips it doesn't speak too badly of your cooking, maybe just his taste in snacks? ;)

bzmomma said...

TOO FUNNY! I can't believe he actually ate cat treats! Did he not feel sick at all?

PS - I am now your newest fan ;)

Yelena R. said...

Oh my, that is absolutely hilarious! (not your cooking skills, I can sympathize with that though...)

But whatever is in the bag is probably delicious...those are the best dinners when I have to cook for myself!

Well, it's edible!

I'm right with you on the cooking thing. We can't be completely perfect. Otherwise, we'd be scary mommies. :) Look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

My niece used to like cat treats. Her mom laughed and said, she thinks its like chex mix for kids...YUCK!

Oh my gosh!!!! That is hilarious!!!!!!

You're so funny, Rebekah!!!

Erin @ Furry Murray said...

That's hilarious! My 11 month old daughter loves the cats' food--to the point of drooling. I found her with two pieces in her mouth and one in each hand! We finally had to get a baby gate just for the cat food. :)

there are a lot of vitamins and minerals in pet food. Kayla liked Science diet dog chow. she'd sit by the bowl and say, "a bite for you and a bite for me." Until I'd catch her. Then I heard a health guy on a tape once saying we give our pets better nutrition then we get so I guess it depends on the snacks.

Oh my gosh, my kids have worked my last nerve today and this was just what I needed !! (Obviously I do not fit the Homeschool mom of your previous post) LOL!! I'm a crappy cook too and the worst part is I'm always so pleased with my tries.... it's quite pathetic actually!! Although, nobody has ever resorted to kitty treats! :P Thanks for the chuckle!!!

I had an uncle that kept sneaking the "really tasty" cookies from grandma's cookie jar. Turned out that cookie jar was where grandma kept her doggie treats.

Sounds like uncle J and your son would really hit it off.

Kay said...

That is great! (funny, I mean)...and please tell me, as a child did your inquiring mind not wonder and try yourself? I never liked the dog ones, but the cat treats were something else....although, after trying and deciding they were 'worthy' still knew better than to continue...but then again, did not have anyone probing me along...hehe...I think it is great!

Jay said...

Hahahahahaha!!! That is SO funny! ROFL!

Ferocious breath? I bet it was!! Poor kid ... you should go buy him a cheeseburger!

Seriously, I bet your cooking isn't that bad at all. Kids just do these things, you know?

On behalf of the team, thanks for taking part in ABC Wednesday this week!

You are so crazy funny. I love that pic of Kaishon cutting the bag. HAH. And I seriously DOUBT yor are a terrible cook. You and I should have a cook-ference call one night and we can make the same meal while over the phone. That would be a hoot AND you could post about it. LOL

I was shocked he had eaten the cat treats, but it is kinda funny. I hope he'll enjoy something more for humans from now on.

Thanks for coming over to my blog. My mom has medicare and so far mom & dad are doing okay with the healthcare they have. I dread our future if we don't shout about it.

There have been town hall meetings here with huge turnouts. I've never seen such interest and concern publicly around here.

I'm so tired from running to & from the hospital and care center, but I'm thankful we have a place for my mom to get rehab.

More later,
