The Question I hear ALL DAY LONG is-

What's Next?
It's X week at

X is hard.

We wake up in the morning
and play with toys,
with the wii,
with each other.
And then I hear,
What's next?

So we go outside and ride bikes,
blow bubbles,
and draw with sidewalk chalk,
and then I hear
What's next?

So we eat lunch
and read a book
and watch a movie
and then I hear
What's next?

So we go to the pool
and swim
and jump
and laugh and play
and then I hear
What's next?

So we go home
and make supper,
play with the neighbors,
and light sparklers
and then I hear
What's next?

So we go to the park,
we play some more,
we run as fast as the wind,
we jump as high as the sky
and then
we go get ice cream
and then I hear
What's next?

So we go home
and take baths
and read books
(most times)
and give hugs
(all times)
and then I hear
What's next?

And I turn on the fan,
turn off the light
and RACE out the door
to my bed.

I've had enough of their
What's Next's?
But I can hardly wait
until tomorrow
when it can start all over again.

Awesomely FUN post, Rebeckah! Of course, I'm completely worn out after trying to keep up with all you guys do in one day! :)

You know, I often have the "what's next" mindset in my head, where I'm looking forward to something else, even when I'm in the midst of enjoying something I looked forward too. we humans are messed up!

But your son is so handsome. I hope you're both enjoying summer. I'm loving the weather and the garden...not too hot in PA yet.

It's a fact: You're the sweetest mom ever.

I hate summer as far as the weather itself goes, but I love the carefree-ness of it all. I love knowing that these are really special days for my kids, the way they were for me when I was their age.

Your days are X-citing!

I would add a few chores, and take no X-cuses! You know just to round out the day.

I love your photos and action filled days!

I totally need you to make a family/friend tree. :) Whenever I hear a new name, I wonder who it is. (I'm nosey like that!)

These carefree days of summer are the best, but they go way too fast!

Loved your post. I remember the "what's next" stage very well! Boys are all grown now, but my husband is reaching this stage as he nears retirement! (he was standing over me as I typed this, saying, "whatcha doin?" Another stage!

I love the "What's Next" question. Better than "I'm Bored" :)

I loved this, Rebeckah! You have boundless energy or patience or Something! LOL, I feel pretty good when I accomplish just a few of these things each day.

Your bird question--it's hard to know exactly, but I would suspect that a raccoon raided the nest. Hopefully the parents will return to nurture the remaining baby.

We have not reached that point just yet....but then again, I am working for a few weeks of summer school and JBM is home with my nephew. He has not run screaming from the house yet so I guess they are keeping busy. Sounds like you are having a great summer....enjoy.

Cute post! I would say my most favorite thing about summer is the fact that we can walk out the door without boots and coats or bundling up little people eXtra warm...saves so much time when we are trying to run out the door(like every :)

You know, I've been thinking on this and the most obvious answer just hit me. It could be a cat. (My cat lives inside exclusively, so I don't often blame cats right away.) :)
