How we roll: CeLeBrAtInG Half Birthdays

Much to my dear Daddy's chagrin,
we celebrate half Birthdays in our house.
Well, only for Kaish.
Gary wants no part of Half Birthdays.
He says it must be a white thing.
I told him that even most NORMAL
white people don't celebrate Half Birthdays : )

I don't know exactly why we do it,
except for the fact that it's a nice time
to remember how much my baby is growing.

This year we invited Sienna over.
She and Kaish were born on the exact same day.
Isn't that cool?
Jen and I have pictures of them together
from when they were tiny babies.
They were so cute!

My Mommy, who is not opposed to Half Birthdays
was a great supporter of our party!
She bought the yummiest cake
(and she vacumed before
Jen, Sienna and Sofia came!)
I love her so much all the time
and even more than normal
when she vacumes : )

It takes a long time to grow young.
Pablo Picasso
We have the most wonderful friends and family.
I am thankful every day!

Are these not the cutest children in the world?
Just love them to pieces!

Friends to the end!
It's the life in your years.”
Abraham Lincoln
I apologize for the non edited state of the pics.
My photoshop is acting up lately....
Do you celebrate
Half Birthdays
at your house?

No half birthdays, but I do celebrate life every single day.

Nope, we don't celebrate 1/2 birthdays and tell Gary we are really white too. (as in pale) :)
My mom and aunt celebrate un-birthdays though...that is when one kid has a birthday, the sibling will get ONE un-birthday gift too.
Silly right? but fun.
I love your Mom...will she come vacuum my house?

My theory is that you celebrate a half birthday if you birthday falls in a summer month when you don't get to celebrate with your friends at YES, we celebrate half birthdays in our house!!! And it just might be a white thing too...LOL!!! That was funny!!!

No, but that is a great idea. What a fun time you all had.

i love gary's take on it as a 'white thang.', lol! it's so funny how other cultures can seem to weird to others and normal to us....i don't celebrate half-birthdays but i could honestly see myself doing it....asher's parties have been way, way over the top since birth, as he is the only child and grandchild and we celebrate him to the inth! blessings...

I did the first two years and then I stopped. Not sure why. I just might have to pick it up again!

YES! We celebrate our kids' 1/2 birthdays with 1/2 a cake and one small gift. It helps that their birthdays are four days apart. We eat 1/2 the cake on 9/18 and the other half on 9/22.

We don't celebrate half-birthdays at our house, but sometimes I think maybe we should for our youngest. His birthday falls at Christmas-time, and makes it hard to make it seem his own day.

Kaishon & Sienna look so cute together, I think it's great that you celebrate half birthdays! And you gave me an idea...since this may be our son's last year at home before he goes off to college, we'll be celebrating his half-birthday this coming November!

Thanks for the idea!

Your parents looks like the best parents ever! Really.

I love that you celebrate half birthdays! I have a hard enough time remembering and preparing for whole birthdays, so I don't think I'll join you on that tradition. But, it sure does sound like fun!

We celebrated Madison's 1/2 birthday. It was fun, we went out to dinner, although the dinner was more so for us, sense she was only 6 months old, but it was fun all the same. No cake though, because I don't think she could eat it, but we did do a little bit of ice cream. What fun 1/2 birthday's can be.

I've never heard of half birthdays, but I love the idea! Any reason for a party, right?

Love those pictures, as always! The last one is can see how close they are, I love it!

No half birthdays, but we also do the Un Birthday. The grandson whose birthday it is not also gets a small present.
Thanks for your comments. I can't believe you know where DuBois is. No one's every heard of it. I just had dinner in Brookville last night and my son went to Clarion University. Where is Perkasie? I never heard of it. BTW - Perkins burned down a couple of months ago but they are re-building and my big day is also going to WalMart. Big City living at it's finest!

Hi Rebeckah,

Thanks for your comments. Your blog looks great, and I love the quotes you have for each post!

We were just in OC, NJ, but didn't quite make it to Uncle Bill's this time. Have not explored or introduced the half birthday concept as of yet. Ssssh! One Chuck E Cheese party a year is quite enough!

cute pics! I haven't seen a comment from you in a while! Was wandering where you've been ... LOL and I couldn't find your page, now I will remember it!

Alicia said... guys are too cute! "It must be a white thing." That is too funny!!

I think that is a cute idea, and a great excuse for a cake!!

I may just start celebrating those here, but then we'll have parties every month! LOL!

Nope, we don't celebrate half birthdays here. It sounds fun though. I hope Kaishon had a great 1/2 birthday!

We don't celebrate them at our house but I DO celebrate them in the classroom. I always feel bad for the summer birthday kids, being one myself and therefore we celebrate their 1/2 birthdays and they even have the option of bring in treats like all the others!

We don't celebrate 1/2 bdays but I think it's awesome you do. And I love the whole "must be a white thang," Bet there's a lot of jokes in your house.
