A hat and a baby

How fun is the theme at
I heart Faces this week?
Hats.
I used to LOVE wearing them on Kaish
when he was an itty bitty baby.
I am actually SO glad for the theme this week
because I have been completely and utterly perplexed
over all the angst surrounding Aretha Franklin's hat
at the innauguration.
What was the big deal?
I mean, everyone and their brother,
was freaking out about her hat.
I didn't hate it.
Did you?

Happy Monday!

I didn't hate it either. Even though I look awful in hats I thought it looked awesome on her! Have a happy Monday.

Well, I totally missed the hat thing... how did I do that. It's not a bad hat though! Your picture is very cute!

I'm not big on hats, and I have to say I thought Aretha's hat was very powerful and something that pretty much became the focus. But we all know that she has always been flamboyant, so it wasn't a surprise to me.

Besides, she's Aretha!

I say it's your hat and wear it if ya want to! (but it is one LARGE bow!) Just shows how goofy our country can be making that such a focus.

That is the cutest little girl...I thought the hat was big, but she wore it well.

I love kids in hats...I can't wear hats at all. I agree that the bow is kind of big on Aretha's hat, but whatever....

I think the hat suits her just fine. Not for me... or maybe you... but it looks wonderful on her.

Great Pic...Love the I ♥ Faces stuff....but here is the deal on the aretha franklin thing...I mean at church no big deal but it looked like a Christmas Present that she forgot to open...so I am going with a Thumbs down on the hat and a HUGE thumbs up on the VOICE! Love her!

I think the era we live in does not appreciate hats as much as we used to!

Girlfriend, you made my day with your comment. I had to come and tell ya and say Thanks!

Your hat pic is sweet and I think she just may look better then Miss Aretha. :D

Hated it and still do. ;)
Love the baby in the hat though...much cuter than Arethas.

Awww...love those sweet baby cheeks! Just makes me want to pinch them (not hard, of course!). Great entry! I must admit that I am not a fan of that hat Aretha wore...I think it's that ginormous bow!

The baby photo just makes me smile :)

And the first thing I thought when I saw the pic of Aretha was "how adorable", then I read your comment about how everyone hates it. Haha, I guess I LIKE ugly things! I had no idea that ppl would make such a big deal over a HAT!

Have a great week!

What a beautiful little girl! And I didn't have a problem with Aretha's hat either. She is Aretha Franklin, she can wear whatever she pleases!

That hat is so adorable on her! I most say I'm not much of a hat person for myself. However on little kids they are just adorable!!

You always take such great pictures!!!!!

Your daughter looks so serene and beautiful.

And Aretha's hat doesn't bother me. It makes a statement though!

I missed the hat thing, too. I actually think she pulled off the hat very nicely. Some people have too much time on their hands. I love hats on kiddos too. I think Liam looks great in hats!

it's definitely Aretha!!

and the baby is a cutie . . .

what a cute entry! so very sweet.

... and very few could pull off that hat, but Aretha Franklin did it beautifully!

LOVED her hat. Totally over the top, totally her. Great photos!

Love your kid pic, but Aretha rocks the house! Would I wear that hat? No. I'd be totally overwhelmed by it. But Aretha? SHE can carry it off. When you can sing like that, you can carry ANYTHING off! We just don't "do" glamour the way we used to in this country, and that's sad (as I sit here in yoga pants, a tank top, and tennis shoes.. *sigh*) Great pictures.. BOTH of them!

Trudy Tilseth said...

I think it's a very stylish hat and Aretha wears it wonderfully!

Also, I haven't heard of your friend's church before but we are members at another church and very involved, TOO involved sometimes, but it's all good!

mamamia said...

what did you say that she deleted you? that is strange. I have no idea. Maybe she did just because she doesn't know you. I would love to post a pic,but i went to buy him the cutest hat, and DIDN'T HAVE MY WALLET! i HATE when I do that!

Banteringblonde said...

I think certain people can pull of certain hats. Me? I'd be laughed all over the place if I tried to wear a hat like that!

What a sweet little baby photo!

I'd have to say a big NO to the hat, but that's probably just because I am a non-hat person. Her voice is so awesome...she can wear any hat she wants to! I'll just sit there with my eyes closed and listen. :)

Simply precious!

Did anyone NOT like it? I must have missed that. I loved her hat - I thought it was awesome. There was a story in the paper about the Detroit milliner who created that hat - I thought it was wonderful.

Adrienne in Ohio said...

Oh, the little girl has such adorable cheeks! Beautiful photo--i love the pink flower bokeh echoing the pink in her shirt.

I think Aretha could pretty much wear whatever she wanted. Why the news gets hung up on these things, I will never understand.

Dot O said...

Rebekah, your hat entries are wonderful!
I do love that bow too! She's stylin!!!

Have you grown any moss from all of this rain yet???

Thanks for visiting my blog:)

I used to work at a millinery store. We sold designer hats. This hat is very attractive and quite appropriate in my opinion for the occasion. Most people are not familiar with hats.

Thanks for stopping by my site. I am glad you like my blog name.

Ah, shoot! I missed another week of I ♥ Faces....and I LOVE hats! Well, your pics are great! I love Aretha...and her hats! ☺

I love how the chin strap emphasizes her full sweet cheeks! What a pretty girl under her denim hat!

Rebekah said...

I can't decide if I like it or not. I kept staring at it while she was singing and never came up with decision.

She bought the hat in Detroit from a small hat shop, and the owner/designer is now a huge deal. He's selling so many hats that he's relocating to New York (I think).

Anyway, she thinks that she should get royalties of the hats he sells or at least free hats for the rest of her life. She's making a big stink about it, and it's quite pathetic!
