Now Accepting Applications for Ugly Friends! Apply Today!

I have always had pretty friends.
Really pretty friends.
In High School my best friends were:
Susannah who was Tall, Blonde and sophisticated
Jen (You know my best friend Jen, right?)
who was Petite, Exotic and filled with personality!
And Gi Gi who was also Petite,
Very Blonde, and completely a beach girl.

Then I went to college and my pretty friends were:
Gretchen who was The Girl Next Door,
Blonde and so natuarally pretty it would make you cry,
(It did make some of the boys cry if I remember correctly)

Mary who was dark, quiet and contemplative
and had a smile that could light up a room,

And Aimee who was a Jersey girl,
blonde and blue eyed, and a cheerleader : ).
So by now, you might think
I would try to get a few ugly friends.
I mean, for heavens sake,
I have been surrounded by beautiful girls my whole life.

But not me, I still pick the prettiest friends.
Jen is just as gorgeous as ever.
Look at my friend Marsha.
I don’t even need to use words for her, do I?

And last of all,
The person that really inspired me to write this whole post:
My friend Kim. Isn’t she lovely?
So here is my question today.
Are your friends
Prettier than you?
As Pretty?
Or a teeny tiny bit less pretty?
Tell me the truth.
Come on, you know they will never read this post and the comments.
I really want to know!
PS Even my blogging friends are lovely!
Melinda is as pretty as they get!

Have you seen Angie and her dimples?

What about Grandma J and her luscious eyelashes?

Give up the dirt : ).

Just to be clear: I am PERFECTLY fine with how I look! This post is about MY SUPER DUPER BEAUTIFUL friends. Don't tell me I'm pretty. This isn't about that. Thanks : ) Rebeckah

Rebeckah, this is my first time to visit here (I think) and I landed on a funny subject!! Yes, my friends are gorgeous too...and we are all middle aged now. The great thing about getting a little odler is that you see beauty in so many different ways. I have some friends who just have a gorgeous face. Some who are beautiful because they always make me smile. Some who are beautiful because I just admire them. You know. Growing up though...I had one friend who was a looker! I secretly always was so jealous because the boys ALWAYS looked to her first.

This is very sweet. I don't know if I am nearly as pretty as my friends are...but I like to think that inside, we are all just as beautiful!!!

Listen here, missy...you are beautiful through and through! I have friends of all different shapes, sizes, and textures...we blend in perfectly together!

Hilarious post! I've had a total mixture of friends. Of course I've had some beautiful friends, but it never really bothered me - it seems you get more attention when you're haning out with pretty girls ;)

My friends are so beautiful inside that I don't even notice their outsides. They are all lovely ladies. That includes you!!

Oh my goodness, this was such a cute post! Thanks for stopping by my blog today....nice to meet ya!

Your friends are darling and so are you!

Blessings to you today!

Hi! Had to stop by and visit! Your title to your post today was very captivating - Love it! You are very clever!!! And, you have beautiful friends!

g said...

Perhaps your friends are all the more beautiful because you love them!

Melinda said...

Okay, when you first started this post, I thought maybe you had something against brunettes, which would have left me out of your friendship circle. And then I see that you posted a picture of me and now...well...I'm not even real sure what to say. Thanks for thinking I'm pretty (no matter how wrong you may be) and more than that, thanks for being my friend!!! You are an absolute doll and I feel very blessed to have "met" you!

Wow - you do have some beautiful friends. My friends have always been prettier than me. I've always been the goofball of the bunch!

My bff, MarySue, is so pretty and has legs and I would die for, but, luckily, she has so many wonderful qualities that I love her too much to be jealous!
As for the rest of my friends, they are all good lookin' too, all in different ways.

I only surround myself with people who are equally as beautiful as myself! haha, just kidding. My friends are HOTT!! And it seems they get hotter the older they get.

What a great subject! Im going to answer honestly and say that I think that I fall in the middle most of the time. I am not the skinniest or prettiest but I will say that I am the FUNNIEST!!! =) I have a couple of funny counterparts and that makes for some really great times. But all in all, I think that I personally fall in the middle and I am OK with that.

Yes, all of your girlfriends deserve the pretty shout out...they are just great! And I agree about Melinda..I think she is sooo adorable!

Cute post!! My friends are ALL beautiful inside and out!!

To answer your hummingbird question. I just saw the first hummingbird back again this past Saturday so I got my new feeder up. This morning one was feeding out of it....YAY! I always put the feeder in the same spot so I hope to see more birds at it soon. The hummers are just getting back into our area.

Haa! Hilarious! yes, many of my friends are very pretty. One of them was completely clueless in college when guys used to stand around our table or ask to sit with us simply to talk to her. I would tell her "that guy likes you" and she'd say "What? That's silly. He's just a friend." But trust me, he wanted to be more.

Again, very funny post.

mimi said...

Ok...so I'm not allowed to tell you that I think YOU are beautiful(because I do and you are). Then, if I'm not allowed...I won't say it;)

And in highschool one of my bff's(she still is) was awarded "best looking". She is gorgeous....but seriously, what an annoying award?! I think my friends are all beauties. I always felt out of place in the group...big nose, big teeth...Italian features. But hey, my husbands a hottie ;)

I think you are a very beautiful person! Even though I never meet you, I feel like I know you. You have an awesome smile, great eyes and are beautiful and amazing on the inside and that's what really counts.

I have to say I have very beautiful friends too, but they all have thier strengths when it comes to beauty!!

Just remember you are an awesome amazing person!!!

Sally's World said...

Hi, I didnt meant to suggest you weren't happy with how you look...it's me that feels inferior compared to my friends, mainly cos i'm usually covered in food, have had 2 hours sleep and havent found the hairbrsush lol!! i just think that while i felt plain growing up, its not until we are older that we realise true beauty is from within...x

gretchen said...

You are too much...thanks for the nice compliment...silly, BEAUTIFUL girl!
I think all my friends have been beautiful. One of my bff's from high school looked like Winnie Cooper from Life Goes On (and all the boys loved Winnie). Plus, I have always had the privilege of having 2 gorgeous sisters around. I haven't met too many women that didn't have a certain beauty about them and now that I have 3 girls I know that each one carries something unique that gives them a beauty all their own.

Have a great day!

P.S. I haven't had a chance to blog hop and LOVE that pic of Melinda. I'm going to have to head over there soon too. :)

What a cute post!! Your friends are beautiful!! (Especially that Grandma J - she's my fave!) Personally, I prefer to have friends who are prettier than I am....it takes the pressure off!!! Bwahahahaha!

It's ironic that you stopped by this afternoon. I have been thinking about you all day, and told myself that I needed to pay you a LONG overdue visit!! Hope you're having a great Tuesday:)

My friends and I are approaching 50 in a few short years, and we are more beautiful now than in high school. But who's prettier....why me of course. HA HA HA HA HA

Michelle said...

Very sweet post!! I think my friends and I are equally pretty. I just think everyone is different and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Okay, that was a safe answer. LOL!! You are beautiful as are all your friends!!

I generally have pretty friends. Are they prettier than me? Probably. Who doesn't like to surround themself with beautiful things?

I think someone can be gorgeous, but if they have a bad personality it can make them ugly. I see your friends beauty shining from the inside out.
Cute post and you are a beauty!

Marsha Marsha Marsha! LOL! I have always been the slightly overweight guy! Not fat, but not fit, except for about 3 years of my life. My friends all seem to be naturally thin, including my brother, that Bastard! LMAO!

He And Me + 3 said...

You are too funny. I am not so worried about the pretty part (even though they are), but they are all skinnier than me and wear their clothes better. I just wanna be thin. ugh. I always pick the twig friends to hang out with.

Keely said...

Yep, my friends are all gorgeous. And they get more beautiful every year :)

I loved this post!

Becky said...

Yes, all my friends, all my life have been prettier or more eye catching than me. Even my own mother used to tell me things like I was beautiful ON THE INSIDE. Not that I think I'm ugly... just average and overweight (not fat LOL)

I feel safe saying that I know exactly how you feel :-)

Grandma J said...

I was so busy looking at all your beautiful friends that the last picture scared the beegeezus out of me!

I don't care what you say, you are the prettiest of all your friends. Why do you think they hang around you?

BTW, you had an ugly friend in your old boss, be careful what you wish for :)

jen@odbt said...

Cute post and what a nice tribute to your friends.

Very nice way to send your love to your friends! I feel like all of us get prettier as time goes on. Even though we may be tired moms, we still have that "glow" and seem to feel more at ease in our skin. Thanks so much for visiting my blog. I really enjoyed coming by here!

We are all very beautiful under god's eye especially you with all your little little naughtiness.
cheers!

drewmark19 said...

Oh, I'm so glad you couldn't snag my picture! :) I can definitely say my friends are prettier. My sisters are my best friends, and you know what Angie looks like. My best friend from high school is a personal trainer if that tells you anything. You can bet I'm not standing next to her in a bathing suit. Regardless, I wouldn't give any of them up for anything. I do get back in my own way, though. (remember April Fool's?) :)

Muthering Heights said...

Um yeah, and they're all skinnier than I am too!

Jaime said...

i think my friends are beautiful. but i may have appreciated their beauty even more when i didn't feel my own was obscured by flab :p

Pam D said...

The one thing that all of my friends seem to have in common is beauty from within. As far as exteriors, we range from a mud hut to a mansion! Those of us who have been around a little longer could probably stand a little renovation, if you know what I mean. But each wrinkle, bag, and sag came with a pricetag and a memory, and for the most part, we wouldn't change it back. (and honestly, when I look at the title of the post, I can't help but to wonder if I'M the ugly one that other folks want to be around to make THEM look better. Oh no!)

Live.Love.Eat said...

So cute. You are so giving of your thoughts of others. Your friends are lucky to have you!!!!! As for my friends, some may be just as pretty, a couple may be a little less and some may be prettier. Just like one man's trash is another man's treasure, well I also believe that we're not all things to all people. I feel who am I to judge if they are prettier or not. As long as I feel alright with what i see in the mirror then I am good with that.

Daphine said...

Girl, you are too funny! Yes, your friends are quite beautiful! My friends are beautiful too~~~~but I would like to think that I am just AS beautiful as they are. lol!

DD said...

You are hilirious and you always have the best posts! I have always felt my friends were prettier than me and wondered why they were friends with me! I was always amazed that Josh chose me out of all my friends...guess it goes to show it is more than just looks. :-) Like all my crazy quirks!

Julie@Momspective said...

Oh, what very pretty friends and pretty friends typically hang out with their pretty friends, so you must just be smokin hot!

Drama Queen Jenner said...

I never really pay attention to what my friends look like. Never have. I like them for who they are, so I have no answer to your question. And I'm absolutely wonderful with that!

Liz said...

Personally I never really made friends based on looks. I think the ones I had in high school were all equal to me. Now, as an adult I don't think much of it!

You DO have pretty friends. Do you not like ugly people..just kidding.

I guess my friends are a hodge podge but I think they are all beautiful!

Maggie's Mind said...

Thanks for stopping by my blog! First, I really *love* the design of your blog. It's pretty like your friends. :) I haven't really given it much thought, but once you get to know someone and love them as a friend, they are all beautiful, you know? So, yep, all my friends are pretty. :)

jennykate77 said...

I'm sooo prettier than ALL my friends and I LIE...a LOT. Whatever! My friends are all kick butt gorgeous (that's better than just being gorgeous...'kick butt' adds a whole new spectrum of gorgeous) and WAY prettier than me.

I've never thought of myself as "pretty" and definitely not "gorgeous"...no way in heck could I ever be catagorized as "exotic" (that makes me laugh just to write it) or "sexy" (I don't have any of the right parts for that)...cute, maybe.

Carey-Life in the Carpool Lane said...

Such a cute post! Unfortunately I should start taking some applications too...my friends are way too pretty.

Maybe I should just apply to be your ugly friend?

jlo said...

I think I have some of both. Some are prettier, most are skinnier :) But, they all have something special and that's why I love them!

Gabe's Girl said...

What are a great friend you are! This is a BEAUTIFUL tribute that I am sure they love. Friends are awesome, aren't they AND you have a friend in me.

Michelle said...

I've never really thoughts about that. Is that bad? But ... my friends are all over the board. No one is ogre ugly, but they range from totally average to truly drop dead gorgeous. And I'm smack dab in the middle, nothing special! Fortunately, I'm ok with that, too!

Buzzings of a Queen Bee! said...

I guess I think that like attracts like...so we can judge that by your pretty friends, you are one hot chick as well! :)

btw, you've been tagged :)

the RaMbLeR said...

Hey...your friend Melinda is also my friend! She really IS beautiful huh?

I think my friends are equally beautiful and all in different ways.

One might have the hawt bod, another beautiful hair, the other something else. I was usually the 'plump' girl but have always been told I had pretty eyes.

I think at the time I always felt like they were just saying that because ... they felt like they had to.

Now that I'm an old lady I honestly don't see the outside of my beautiful friends as much as I do the inside...and of course I think they are beautiful because I love them.

imbeingheldhostage said...

What a fun post!! It's really got me thinking. I've had friends that were pretty to distraction (you know, she's trying to tell you her sad tale and all you can think is how lovely her cheek bones are) and friends that... um, weren't so much so.
I'm at the age now where I can be realistic about my gifts and runway model is not one of them-- I make up for it with my sarcastic wit ;-)

Josh, Steph, The Boys and Maddie said...

too funny! This cracked me up! So I had a mix of friends. Some pretty, some that weren't considered pretty to the outside world but who was as beautiful as they got in the inside!

Today my friends are my kids, my husband, and when I get time my mom and my sisters. So if I said they weren't cute then I would be saying that I am ugly because everyone says we all look alike! :D

So I would have to say my family is as HOT as they get! (Laugh out loud!) Thanks so much for this blog! It really made my day. I've been suffering a migraine most of the day... I think this was my first smile of they day... and it's 7:30 at night!

I am in the same boat as you...Ive always had super pretty friends too.

What a fun and very interesting post! I honestly have never really given it much thought. I think my friends come in all shapes and sizes and all degrees of prettiness. But you're right...you do have gorgeous friends...and I think you fit in very nicely:)

I do have one wonderful friend (my maid of honor) who is just absolutely beautiful inside and out and while I was still single got horribly jealous because she was constantly getting hit on when we were out. Man, that was tough...and I didn't have a hard time telling her...LOL!
