ABC Wednesday O for Opportunity

Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more
Anthony Robbins

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
Thomas Alva Edison quotes

Life's up and downs provide windows of opportunity to determine your values and goals - Think of using all obstacles as stepping stones to build the life you want
Marsha Sinetar

Don't wait for extraordinary opportunities. Seize common occasions and make them great. Weak men wait for opportunities; strong men make them.
Orison Swett Marden
We had a wonderful opportunity this week to do something kind! It totally Worked for Me, and I hope it will work for you too!
Sienna, Mila, Sofia and Kaish went to Luther Village Nursing Home to Trick or Treat with the residents. It was a tad bit stressful getting there by 6 but it was worth every stress we encountered!
The residents were so delighted to see the children in their constumes. The children were delighted to get candy. Sienna and Mila and Kaishon were especially sweet to the residents. The children gave out lots of hugs and smiles. I truly think Sienna, Mila and Kaish are the best little kids in the whole wide world...besides your kids and grandkids, of course : )!
If you live near a nursing home, why not check and see if they do something like this! It was fun for everyone! My O pictures this week are of Opportunities we had for kindness. ABC Wednesday is so much fun! I can't wait to see your O pictures this week!
Quince is very depressed. He is in therapy for 6 hours a day. He needs prayer. Thank you!

When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that last blow that did it, but all that had gone before.-Jacob A. Riis

Kaish has always had a hard time at school- even in Kindergarten. It has been very frustrating for us. This year he is in 3rd grade and he is truly doing an excellent job!

He works hard on his homework every night. He likes his regular teacher and his special education teacher. He hasn't gotten in any trouble at all. A few days ago he came home with a praise note from another teacher in the school.

A little boy had fallen at recess (right in the beginning) and Kaishon gave up his whole recess to help the child go down to the Nurse. He then stayed to make sure the boy was OK. The child's teacher wrote a praise note for Kaishon. Kaish was SO excited. He was glowing when I picked him up for school.

That night at bedtime we were saying our prayers and he said, "I knew you could turn me into a better boy, Jesus, I just knew it." I am so proud of him I could just burst! Have your children done anything lately that made you that proud? : )

Quince is in a rehab facility. He can not move any part of his right side. I noticed this weekend that he is able to swallow now. He could not swallow when he was in the hospital and a feeding tube had to be inserted. I asked the nurse if they would be taking that out and she said not yet.

Quince was watching a game when I went to see him. I asked him who he wanted to win. He tries to talk but only small sounds come out. I am not sure how to describe it. He can hold up his fingers and he did do that a lot. He also cried. He is very sad and discouraged. Please keep praying.

I don't have any pictures of Quince to post and he was probably the only person in America who is not on facebook or myspace : ). I am going to take pictures of his children and his wife next weekend so then I will post them so you can see who you are praying for. Thank you so much for praying!

To end this on a happy note: My friend Katie who has been diligently praying for Quince, is having a giveaway this week. Go over and enter. She is giving away a beautiful bird.

Do you like giveaways? Then go check out this site today: Holy COW! There are a LOT of links to blog give aways this week! There were some amazing giveaways like cash... : ) Over 400 giveaways...You gotta go check it out : )!

cooking or something like it: an easy appetizer

This simple appetizer was a hit at two events I went to last week.
Doesn't that sound glamorous? Events! Those ever-so-glamorous events were our Bible study and the neighborhood Halloween Party for grownups. (Nothing too glamorous)
I thought I would share it since I did take pictures and it was Yummy : ). I combined 2 recipes from one of my most favorite blogs
Are the picture explanatory?
I was going to give step by step directions with the pictures, but I am not a good picture loader, and after 3 tries, I have to give up on them coming out in order : )!
Here are my quick and simple instructions:
Cut the crust off bread
Toast it in the oven
Make some tuna (I use dressing because I don't like mayonaise, but normal people would probably use mayonaise : )!
Throw in some dill. (It's just Yum-O)
Throw some cheese on your toast and toast it again for a few minutes.
Throw some tuna on each toast
Throw some tomato pieces on each little bite.
Shove them in your mouth : ) Or take them to your glamorous event.
The End!
Oh, I like this cooking blog too, I just found it, and I think it is nice and simple! My brilliant friend Danielle and her Mom do it I think. Go check it out if you want some meal ideas!
What is your favorite appetizer to take to parties? Come on, give it up!

Do you have a will?

Can you guess what he is going to be this year?
Me either : ).
He changes his mind about twice a day! It will be something exciting though!

I read this article this week and I think it is VITAL information!
If you have a second, or a minute : ), go read it.
We don't have one yet, but it is on my list of IMPORTANT things to do!
What other important things do people need to do to ensure their family will always be taken care of if anything happens to them?

Quince is feeling sad and depressed. Please pray for a miracle.
Thank you for all of your prayers to date!

N is for NEVER grow up...please

I know you have to.

But I wish you didn't.

I wish you could NEVER GROW UP.

Every day is so special.

Every moment so filled with wonder.

I love you more and more as time goes by.

So for this ABC Wednesday my N picture is of you feeding the ducks just like you did when you were a baby. I am entitling it "Never Grow Up."

Spending time with you as you are growing up is what Works For Me! You are my most precious gift. How do you deal with your children growing up? I was reading a great post this week at Baby Favorite and it made me really think about this whole wonderful and scary growing up stage...
Quince is now at a rehabilitation facility. He is still completely paralyzed on his left side. He has been very sad this week. He is crying. Please continue to keep Quince and his family in your prayers. His children and his wife are having a very difficult time dealing with this tragedy. Thank you for all of your prayers thus far!

Parades Schmarades

(Just for Jen or forcedtoegister...)

Sienna and Mila were in the Harleysville Parade with their Girl Scout Troop on Saturday! They were spiders. Jen does not know what the theme of their float was : ) but she does know that they won a prize for being the best. Nice!

Jen and Dan had to drop the girls off at 9:00. The parade started at 11:00. It was FREEZING cold : ). Guess how long the parade was...really, guess.

10 minutes. Do you believe that?

We had fun anyway. It was a cold but yet oh-so-exciting start to our weekend.

Does your town have a Halloween or Thanksgiving Parade? Do you go?
Quince Update: He is definitely getting moved to a rehab facility this week! Please keep praying! THANK YOU~!

Links! Links! Links!

Here is a little picture of Mila that has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with this post. I just love this kid. She is Jen's middle child and one of my favorite children on the planet : ). I totally Heart her!
This girl is SO much fun. Her happy attitude just bounces off the blog. I love her pictures. I love her attitude. Go check out her pretty pictures.
I wish I could remember what site I saw this site on this week. It is free and it looks cool. My AWESOME friend Danielle could probably do a million cool things here. Danielle makes these little photo slides with her pictures that are SO cute. She is very creative. Go check out her site too! I always smile every time I go. Her baby is ADORABLE!
Always love a good bargain? This is a great place to look!
This is Kaishon’s new favorite learning activity. I have heard the song eleventy eleventy million times all ready... Go ahead, click on it, you know you need a new annoying song running thru your head all day.
This girl and her husband are trying to adopt a baby. She is so sweet and open. Click on her blog and encourage her. I can’t imagine how frustrating or scary that process is.
This Mom is just amazing. I don’t even have words to describe her. You just have to read her story. UNBELIEVEABLE!
Some money saving tips. I am not opening my retirement statement right now! I feel better when I don’t know how much is being lost. I also try to remember that NOW is a great time to buy things cheaper than they normally would be. It’s kind of like the stocks are on sale. (And you know, I just LOVE anything that is on clearance!)
Do you have any great new links that I can go check out? Share away!
Thank you for continuing to keep Quince in your prayers!
God can do a miracle!

Nice Things that Churches Do:

We have a lot of really great churches in our area. To me a 'great church" is a curch that CARES about the community and is committed to bringing JESUS love and light to people.

This Church had a neighborhood block party last Sunday. Kaishon had a GREAT time. I was very encouraged because they had a group of people in a booth that were taking prayer requests and praying for things right there on the spot. 5 people prayed for Quince.

I know a miracle can happen for Quince. He is going to be moved to a rehab facility soon because the hospital can no longer help him. He has a fever right now so the Dr's aren't sure when the exact move date will be. Thank you for continuing to pray for Quince and his family. I know his wife and children are all still scared. At times this seems hopeless but because I am a Christian, I do believe that God has a purpose for this very unbelieveable challenge.

Thank you for praying! God bless you this weekend!
