Thinking Missionally

This has been a very busy week for everyone!
Gary has been working 7 days a week for the last 4 weeks. He is very tired and irritable. He hates the MANDATORY overtime, but he won't consider a new job. It is frustrating for all 3 of us! Gary's truck broke down this week. There is something wrong with the transmission and it is going to cost $2,000 to fix. Gary isn't very happy about that either. We got his Mustang inspected today so he can drive that for a few months until the snow comes, but we still have to decide what to do about the truck. It has 120,000 miles on it and it is from 1994. Should we put lots more money into it? That is the million dollar question.
Kaish has had a big week at school. He is really struggling with reading and math. The teacher said he is a distraction to the other students. Of course, being his mother, I am assuming he is acting out because he feels inadaquate...but who knows. We talk about it every night and I feel extremely concerned. I am very thankful we are in the public school this year because I feel like they have more resources to properly diagnose his learning disorder. Kaishon has not been waking up crying about going to school at night and that makes me feel better. When he sees the bus coming in the morning he has been saying, "Here I go again. The dumb one." I tell him Jesus will help him and I squeeze him tight before he gets on the bus, but I can see the sadness and it kills me. It is devastating to have your child feel so defeated and I often cry on my way to work.
I had my first week of court this week. I LOVE my new job. It has been very interesting this week. The children I work with are unique. I smile every day because they are CONSTANTLY funny! I love the judge and all of the court reporters in our courtroom. I also love my co workers.
One of my best friends, Jen Martello, has been watching Kaishon for me every morning. I take him over to her house at 7:00 and she takes him to school at 8:30. (I am SO BLESSED to have Jen helping me!)It takes me exactly one and a half hours to get from Souderton to the court where I work in Philadelphia. I know it is a long drive, but working with the kids that I get to work with makes the drive worth it. I just love them so much! Even the ones with attitudes!
Gary stayed overnight in Philadelphia since his car isn't done being inspected. I am glad he can spend time with his Dad, but I miss him. Kaishon wanted to drive down and get him tonight after we left the park. I am glad Kaishon has Gary. I think that Gary is getting more used to having a child around constantly. I know he loves Kaishon very much. Who couldn't???? He is the GREATEST 7 year old in the world and I love him mightily. Good night.

Perfect Saturday

Jourdan Johnson
Almost 4!
So, I was having a PERFECT Saturday with Kaishon. Gary was at work and we slept in until 10:00. At 12:00 Kaish was watching a cartoon and I was reading a book, we were both still in our pajamas...and then the phone rang. BRRRRRRRRRRRING!

It was Nikkita. My favorite friend from Philadelphia! She was calling to say that her FABULOUS family was going to come to Betsy's cookout at 5 that night. GREAT! AND....she wanted to bring her husband over to see the house. OH NO! The house was dirty and I was in my pajamas and at a good part in my book... "Of course you can come see the house; I am delighted you want to come!" I said.

I got off the phone and looked around. There was so much to do. I illicited help from Kaishon, but he was coloring a new fuzzy poster at this point and it was useless. I had to do everything myself. 3 loads of laundry, 3 bathrooms to clean, dishes everywhere, vacuming.....Somehow it all got done in 3 hours. I was exhausted. I looked at Kaish and said, "look at our nice clean house" and he said, "Aren't you supposed to do this every day, Mommy?" Hmmmm. Maybe, but who has the energy to clean every day? Probably my friend Kari Dull who lives in a third world country and has 4 children. She probably cleans every day : ) She is a superhero after all!

Betsy's party was very nice. There was tons of food and lots of games. Despite the chilly weather, everyone looked like they were having fun. Nikkita, Anthony, Jamal and Jourdan had fun. Kaishon LOVED having Jamal and Jourdan at the party. Afterwards Nikkita and family came over to our house.

Gary got home from work at 7:00 and his friends Ben, Tramaine, and Joe came to see the house. Ben loved the house and told Gary to stop complaining about his 30 minute commute : ). Ben is going to bring his whole family over soon. I can't wait to meet his kids. Kaish will go crazy with delight! Ben said he is glad I married Gary so I can take care of him. Boys are so funny with their comments. Oh well. I will take care of Gary. He is a good man to take care of.

We are so thankful for our wonderful friends. Even if they make me clean! Come again.

My friend Mila came over to see me this morning. She was with her mother, Jennifer.
I love Mila because she is hilarious! She is a middle child and she is very interesting.
Mila is in kindergarten. She made my whole day!
I am thankful she is my friend!
Mila Harley is WONDERFUL! What a blessing!

The second day of school!?!?!?!?

I missed Kaishon's first day of school, but I was able to see him get on the bus the second day! I forgot to post these pictures last week. Isn't he the best second grader you have ever seen? He likes school. He is going to be tested because of his reading and I am praying that he will get into a great placement where he will learn how to read despite his learning disability! I am thankful every day for Kaishon and the absolute JOY he brings to my life! Gary is still having a hard time getting used to the energy level in our house! It is HYPER to the max for both Kaishon and myself. We need more babies, and then I will be calmer! : )

Speaking of more babies, Betsy asked me to watch her baby today. I was excited to spend the day with Levi and when I went to pick him up this morning, Betsy said Ben was going to come too! Now, if you know Ben, you know that he is even more hyper than Kaishon and I put together! We ended up having a great day. We went to 2 parks, the grocery store, and the drug store. Doesn't that sound like a fun day?

Having 2 small children is an insane amount of work! I want to give a shout out to my friend from college, Kari Davis Dull, who has 4 small children. I seriously believe she is a super hero! She is a hero in my book anyway! WOW!

I can't wait for another baby. I just LOVE them.

Thankful for my sister and her family!

This picture of Ben is old but it is my favorite one! He is adorable! He has blue eyes like my Daddy.

Kaishon needed to be met at the bus stop today and my SWEET and LOVING sister Betsy, volunteered. She was a little late (20 seconds she says?!?!?) and our neighbor waited with Kaishon until she showed up. Kaishon loves his cousins! Betsy has 2 sons, Ben, almost 3, and Levi, who just turned 3 months. They are ADORABLE boys. Betsy also has a nice husband named Caleb. I am thankful for my sister and her family. I am really blessed to have such wonderful people in my life to help me.

Kaishon's First Day of School

Could he be any cuter????? Kaishon is going to have the BEST year in Second Grade!
Kaishon likes to roll his socks down like this. Its a little a wierd, but if it makes him happy, I can live with it. I let him pick out his first day back outfit all by himself.

Today was Kaishon's first day back at school! Kaishon had a good day, I think. I couldn't put him on the bus this morning because I had a training on Case Management in Center City Philadelphia. I took him over to Betsy's at 6:45. Kaishon was very excited about his first day. He couldn't wait.

Betsy and Caleb and Ben and Levi brought him to our house at 8:07 to meet the bus. We are very excited and thankful to know that there are indeed some other children in the neighborhood. Hopefully Kaishon can make some friends to play with at our new house.

I couldn't tell if his day was good or not. I got different vibes about it when I asked him, so I'll have to do some investigation on it tomorrow when I go to his school for a visit! I love him so much! We are all praying for a positive second grade school year.

breakfast in bed

Tomorrow Kaishon has to go back to school! This year he will be going to West Broad Street Elementary School. Kaishon would like to go to Dorney Park today, but I don't know if I have enough energy. Maybe we will go to a regular park. Gary's Best Friend, Ben, might come over today to see the house. If he comes maybe he can bring his sons with him. Kaishon has never met them yet and he loves to play with children! We are still on the lookout for children in the neighborhood. How can there not be any children?!?!?!?!?
I made Kaishon and Gary pancakes and bacon for breakfast this morning. They were still sleeping at 9:00 so I let them eat breakfast in bed. Its hard to believe that Summer is unofficially today. We have had a big summer!
We went to Wildwood, New Jersey for vacation in June.
We went to Johnny's Birthday Bash at Betsy and Calebs at the end of June.
We went to Mrs. Russo's for tudoring every week during July and August.
We got married at the end of July to Gary!
We bought our new house the last week of July and moved in. Betsy and Grammy and Pop Pop and Tiffani and the Antonuccio's came to help us!
We adjusted to our new family in August : )
We got our furniture and moved it all around.
We missed Grammy and PopPop and Gary's Dad.
We had Mrs. Derstine and Aunt Luella over for our first company!
We had Dawn and Jeff Jones over for supper.
We can't wait for Fall and all of our new adventures to begin!

my cousin Curt

I wanted to write about my cousin Curt. When we were growing up, every summer, my Dad and Mom would take us to Clarion, Pa. to visit my Grandma Kindel. As we got older, we would stay at my Aunt June and Uncle Ray's home in Brookville, Pa.

Curt and I were very close. He and I were the same age. I told everyone he was my best friend. When I was in 8th grade I started writing letters to him every friday night. As I got older I started writing more letters. Sometimes every day. Curt thought it was funny! I was journaling to a person and not to a book. It was a little excessive I think. Curt tells me there were a few months when I was writing about 5 times a week. I always have been a little odd. : )

Curt went to St. Francis College in Pennsylvania. He majored in Physical Therapy. He is a great Physical Therapist! He married Heather and they have 2 ADORABLE girls named Jessa and Maura. He came to visit a few weekends ago when Heather had a class in Philadelphia.

I am thankful Curt was a part of my life when I was growing up.
